I’m in Oklahoma; it was settled by greedy land barons, politicians and crooked lawyers. It’s a very poor State with a few very wealthy people. Bartlesville used to have the most millionaires of any State (Oil).

Cell phones/distracted driving kills thousands of people on the roads every year taking place in every state.

If you put your state on your profile nobody would have to ask you over and over what state you live in when you post questions like this. just a friendly reminder

How about not making it so insurance pays only for those whose car it is purchased for. The insurance companies make it so I pay for your damage and you pay for mine. That is a set up for a monopoly. No mandatory insurance laws, prices go down. And this is what people get when they call and complain and demand answers to the insurance racket.

Does your vehicle have a navigation system? Do you have a smart phone?
Some apps on your smart phone have been known to sell your driving habits, speed in relation to the speed limit, heavy braking, etc., to insurance companies.
Car dealerships can do the same as they can download all of that info.
Our cars and phones can and often do spy on us.
The info from that is used for our insurance "credit rating".

Congratulations on getting a response from Lexis Nexis. When I made my request in writing, they just ignored me.

"plus we live in rural TN." After 35+ years in Central FL I moved to rural TN as well. No regrets at all, and my auto insurance dropped like a rock.

And nearly everyone who gets their premiums jacked up, never filed a claim, and have spotless driving records.
That is the nature of insurance; the premiums reflect the risk from the general public to the pool of insured; everyone pays for the uncivil society with its crime, corruption, and poor driving habits. Top it off with inflation.

My state requires a large surety bond to be posted to do it legally. There’s another requirement: you have to own at least 26 registered vehicles.

You bet, ripping people off is the nature of the insurance biz.

Why do you have to insure two cars when you can only drive one at a time? In other words why isn’t it the driver who gets insured? You drive for 30 years without a claim, have a fender bender in a parking lot and they jack your rates up, recoup their “loss” in two years and keep your rates high.

You bet, and when a persons vehicle is sitting parked, the insurance during that stationary duration should be dramatically reduced. Some folks park their vehicles days at a time or longer. It’s all very doable.

They generally don’t lose. Like casinos.
Btw, this whole thing regarding endlessly over regulating your privately owed vehicles is nuts. Like the racket of forcing people to register their same vehicle over and over for years...Same title, same address nothing changed, just keep paying and reregistering it.

Raise your deductibles, keep good coverage.
Your car’s value likely increased with the inflation increase.

I use Progressive, and I’ve been with them since 2007, so I have a long-time patron status with them. I jump to the front of the line on phone calls to their service number, and I had an increase of about $250 every six months. I asked why.
Bluntly they said, “Inflation and record numbers of uninsured drivers,” one of which I’d been hit by in my teens. Sadly, my state recognizes the payor insurance’s patron as automatically at fault in those situations. That’s a story for another day.
They looked at all of my discounts and said they’d see what they can do to lower my premium, so they had me go through their month-long driver monitoring (no GPS) and it lowered my rate by a lot.
I have exhausted all discounts aside from multiple vehicle, as two don’t count. It’s three plus; though I will be buying a motorcycle soon...
