LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lake County jury awarded over $4 million to a woman after she slipped in a Publix store nearly four years ago, according to law firm Morgan & Morgan.
Court records show that the woman — Heidi Jordan of Brevard County, who is represented by Morgan & Morgan — visited a Publix Supermarket along US-27 in Leesburg back in August 2020.
While shopping, Jordan slipped on water in the produce department, causing her to suffer major injuries, she claimed. She then filed a lawsuit against Publix, arguing that the company’s negligence was responsible.
”She suffered from herniated discs in her neck and back, and sustained serious bruising and hematomas on her right arm from the fall,” Morgan & Morgan announced in a release.

Phoenix is wallpapered with their billboards. Practically all the billboards in Phoenix are for cannibis shops, “Morgan & Morgan”, or “The Husband and Wife Law Team”. When I am on a Phoenix highway, it is like being in a dystopia.
Tort reform refers to changes to the law designed to make it harder for plaintiffs to sue, or designed to reduce the potential compensation available after a lawsuit has been filed and won.
We’re in the money, we’re in the money;
We’ve got a lot of what it takes to get along.
There is a lot of slip and fall fraud in Florida. Just putting that out there.
It never occurred to me to sue for medical costs (I’m on Medicare) or pain and suffering or any of the other usual BS.
Since the hotel never bothered to even check to see how I was doing, I’m kinda thinking maybe I should have.
And costs go up for everyone. Jackpot for some and everybody pays.
I avoid driving through Phoenix, but there are lots of TV ads around here for the Husband and Wife Law Team. My wife and I like to speculate that those two loathe each other but won’t get a divorce, since that would almost certainly cut way into their income. Who would hire the Divorced Guy Lawyer, or the Ex-Wife Lawyer?
That’s the store my mom and her husband shop at. Their house in Leesburg is about a mile away. I’ll have to let them learn how to take a dive and earn big money.
Yikes! I am sort of surprised that the hotel did not at least discuss covering medical costs with you.
Well tell them not to be too obvious. A triple gainer may look impressive but may make a jury skeptical.
extremely obnoxious billboards everywhere.
“for the people.”
When I worked at a grocery store I turned a corner and saw a woman on the floor in a puddle of milk from a gallon jug. How it got there I don’t know but when I instinctively offered her my hand she said “no, get the manager. He needs to see this.”
I love this. I currently have a summer job working at Publix. The company sucks, although I love the store chain. Working for it is another story.
I’m glad they were taken to the woodshed.
Morgan & Morgan...Scum sucking leeches.
Herniated disc injury is painful. I have sciatica myself and it is getting better with the exercise I do.
Publix will have her followed for years to check if she is playing tennis or golf or dancing etc. Then they will sue her.
I had just left an aisle in a drug store when I heard the lady I saw there calling for help. I heard no fall it looked like she just sat down then laid down. Right where cameras couldn’t see. I called after getting home n told manager. She also had put a pencil on the floor to show what made her fall. It wasn’t there seconds earlier.
