Local news is reporting the bite victim was actually the captain of this charter boat.

This is not a shark “attack.” This is shark self-defense.

I was fishing offshore SE FL yesterday, no sharks, but 2 barracuda’s and a bonito.

Correct. The shark was attacked. He merely fought back.

It was not in the water. Therefore it was most likely Landshark!

Under the right circumstances barracuda can be about as vicious as a shark.

A few miles north of me. He was trying to let it go from what I hear. The river is deep water dredged from around that part to the ocean. Just north of that spot is the Kings Bay Balistic Sub base for the Atlantic.

Must have been a Land Shark!
To: V_TWIN
Well...no hate or blame for that shark. Hooked and hauled out of the water, fighting fir its life.

Yeah, you can hardly call that a shark attack.

"the man was part of a group of people fishing when the shark was reeled onto the boat and the attack occurred."
You'd think they'd learn not to do that from the movies.

Hold my beer.

Calling this an “attack” is like calling a negligent discharge “gun violence.” People have been injured, even killed, by bringing large, powerful fish aboard before they were properly secured (sharks, marlin, tarpon etc.) This is clearly negligence on the part of the angler or the captain/crew; it is definitely not an attack.

“Under the right circumstances barracuda can be about as vicious as a shark.”
Always always remove shinning object (jewelry) from yourself before swimming in the ocean. If a shark dont get you a barracuda will.
