I saw him on an HBO special back in the 70's. The following clip.is him doing "The Humming Song". Even all these years later, I still remember it. The first part is him setting it up. Hope it'll make you laugh.

Years ago (70’s?) I heard a recording he did called white collar blues. He played a ukulele using a baby bottle for a slide. “Oh Lordy Mommy. The ice is melted in my drink, the car is down to a quarter tank” etc.

I first knew him as a guy who did funny records, in the early 70s, before he was on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. He was pretty much unknown at that time.

Somehow I swear I knew of Martin Mull before Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.   I remember thinking wow, that guy I liked is on that new show.   I only watched a few minutes of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and never watched it again.

It might have been the fact that I was stationed overseas and it either wasn't on AFRTS, or I worked so many rotating shifts that I never could sync it with my shift schedule.

RIP Martin Mull.
