I'm referring to SPAM!
Me, when I'm in the local Grocery Outlet, I'll pick up a couple cans of it every now and then. No, I don't eat it regularly (who does?) but being it has a 2-3 years shelf life, why not?
Every now and then, I get an urge for a SPAM sandwich and/or some SPAM and eggs for breakfast. Yes, it's a bit on the salty side but boiling it takes a lot of the salt/sodium out of it.
Thoughts?????
I like it, but the Salt content is just excessive.
Great survival food though. Keeps forever too.
I love it! It was an almost regular when I was stationed in Hawaii! But there’s a LOT of sodium in it!
Ewwwwwwwwww. My mom used to make it. I don’t consider it fit for a dog.
A 2:37am post about SPAM with replies within minutes.
I’m awestruck!!
Bacon-flavored Spam is the best!
Slice it up and fry it to a golden brown before serving.
I love Spam Masubi.
L
Like it, once in a while. They make a reduced sodium version.
Are you being sarcastic? It contains ham/pork...so... No.
I do like SPAM. But I don’t eat every day.
It’s extremely popular in Hawaii. I like it on a burger!
Some years ago, I had a desk job and put on 20 extra lbs - did a modified Atkins diet and pat of it was a can of Spam for lunch...
Not one of my favorites but if you need some fats and protein, it fills the bill - best when sliced into 1/4” slices and put on toasted bread with onion and mustard...
I have a 70th Anniversary two pack of Spam on a top shelf in the Man Cave, but that’s as close to it that I’ll get. Was fed Spam at summer camp and I hated it.
I love it!
I’m having spam spam spam spam spam span baked beans bacon egg and spam!
I fry mine and make a bread, mustard, and spam sandwich. I eat that about once a month...lol
I don’t. 🤣
Never ate Spam when I was a kid, but my wife likes sandwiches of Hot & Spicy Spam on white bread. She fries the Spam very crisp, and uses mayo only, no mustard. I’ve tried it, but not my favorite, even with mustard.
I like liver (especially deer liver) and liverwurst, but my wife hates them. She will, however, eat livermush, which seems to be a North Carolina version of scrapple. Pretty good fried crisp, either with eggs or in a sandwich.
“It is slightly better than scrapple.”
I like both. Pan fried SPAM is good. sometimes I coat it with a mustard and brown sugar mixture. I like it for breakfast with eggs and rice, maybe some kimchi on the side. Most of the “flavored ones” are not to my liking. I do like the Black Pepper SPAM and a friend gets me Hot and Spicy SPAM at the PX for me.
It is the same with scrapple. I coat it in flour, pan fry it with some soy sauce, and have all sorts of breakfast combinations.
Obviously I have weird culinary tastes. PS I also liked C-ration chopped ham and eggs
