If Trump Wants To Win, He Should Run With J.D. Vance (R-Ohio)
The Federalist ^ | June 21 | BY: NED RYUN

Trump needs a true fighter and a real friend in his corner as his running mate — and there’s only one man who fits the bill.

Jan. 20, 2025, will mark the first day of the most important four years of our lifetimes. That’s the day President Trump will place his hand on a Bible, take the oath of office, and end the disasters Joe Biden created at home and abroad. It’s the day the effort to save America will truly begin.

President Trump is undoubtedly the man for this moment, but as our 47th president, he will face even harsher challenges than he did as our 45th. The media, the deep state, the Democrats, and, yes, even some establishment Republicans will fight harder and dirtier than they ever have before to stop Trump from implementing his America First agenda.

With the stakes high and many powerful forces standing against him, Trump needs a true fighter and a real friend in his corner as his running mate. He needs someone who will have his back, especially when the going gets tough, who’s smart, effective, and a true believer on policy.

There’s only one man who fits the bill: Sen. J.D. Vance.

The Ohio Republican has proven himself time and time again as one of Trump’s strongest allies. He’s a ruthlessly effective messenger, especially on hostile networks, and would perform strongly against Kamala Harris in a debate. He’s stood up to the globalists who want America’s sons and daughters to fight other nations’ wars. He’s in lockstep with Trump on tariffs, trade, and economic policy. And he won’t surrender, as far too many Republicans have, on border security, illegal immigration, and protecting American workers.

“We need Vance in the Senate.”

This whole Vance-for-VP could be a big lose-lose situation for us. If Trump does NOT select him for VP, as a Senator he could make life miserable for PDJT. He has a nasty streak ad revenge could be pretty terrible.

I like Vance, he is brave, he is also reality-based because of his upbringing but does not appear to have a hidden agenda or grind axes because of his past.

Legally he is restrained and smart.

The best thing is he is young, relatively new to Washington (exact opposite of Biden in this regard), and capable of following Trump in 2028 as POTUS as a real contender.

In interviews on TV he as an equanimity and wisdom greater than his years.

Although a younger person he does not speak in condescending cant or slogans a la JFK.

Last he does not bore the hell out of me with interminable diarrhea-mouth like most candidates who act as if they are being paid piecemeal for the number of words that come out of their pie-holes.

Interesting…

But there’s more than one way to fight.

I would guess:

• Trump will choose someone you do not expect
• that person will be chosen to move him closer to a huge victory
• trump may not be thinking that VP will follow as the nominee for potus next time - but will leave the seat open for his son

Decent choice. He may be afraid to re: abortion, however.

I don’t think you should worry too much about the senate seat

If Vance is the man for the job he should get it regardless.

It’s a promotion on to the national stage

In the Senate he does nothing but show up and vote. 90% with leadership anyway and so will his replacement

If Trump pulls a sitting Republican Senator out of the Senate to be his VP, he had better be sure the Democrats don’t win the Senate on Nov. 5th. Because if they do, they will try and impeach and remove Trump from the presidency in 2025.

From Vance’s wikipedia page:

“In 2019, Vance co-founded Narya Capital in Cincinnati, with financial backing from Thiel, Eric Schmidt, and Marc Andreessen.[28] In 2020, he raised $93 million for the firm.”

You obviously have not read his book. His beliefs and positions on issues has been formed by his upbringing. The slums of Middleton do not lead to elitism. Ohio State University is hardly elitist. On the other hand Trump is an Ivy League grad.

Vance has no seniority in the Senate he’s a backbencher and does nothing but vote mostly as he’s told by leadership

Just because 1 out of 10 times he might disagree with the deep staters in the Senate means he’s “needed” i don’t agree especially if he were to be elected VP

Also, the GOP governor will send a replacement who will probably vote the same way as Vance would 90% of the time.

I dont buy the fact that he’s needed in the Senate.

I think he’s needed next to DJT !

As usual, Sundance, great post. I, too, have my doubts about the present VP picks that are being talked about. Of course, the left will vilify Trump if he chooses a VP candidate who isn’t a natural-born citizen. Still, beyond that, Trump should pick a VP candidate not only the Democrats but all the establishment RINOs would loath to see as president should that be necessary. In such a case, I can think of no better candidate to fit the bill than Allen West.

He is a Christian constitutional conservative, a combat veteran, a former Member of the US Congress from Florida, the Executive Director for The American Constitutional Rights Union, and a former Texas GOP Chair, who now lives in Texas.

He could also chew up and spit out Kamala Harris in a debate.

The primary responsibility of a Trump VP is to scare the —— out of the left and RINOs at the possibility of that person being President should something remove him from office.

Otherwise we can expect another litany of fake impeachments and other orchestrated events to derail 47.

The Dems know this trick. Clinton picked green warrior Gore, Obama Biden, and Biden Harris.

No. Trump will not pick another Trump for V.P., he does not need to emphasize his Trump base, it will vote for him. He will pick someone that shows a broader appeal for the general election, where swing states and independents in them could make all the difference for a victory.

The number one reason for a VP is to be a Rottweiler against the press. JD fits that well.

You obviously haven’t read his book. Most of his family left poverty in Appalachia to find work in Mansfield, Ohio, after WWII. They were employed until the industrial base there shut down. Vance lived with various stepfathers and his mother’s transient boyfriends until they all left and she succumbed to drug addiction. He then was bounced back and forth from her to his hillbilly grandparents who became the major influence in his life and saved him from addiction and crime.

He had a really difficult upbringing. His family was poor. He worked his way through college after serving in the military—sometimes working three jobs while going to school full time. He often visits his family in Kentucky and his beloved grandmother and grandfather are buried there. Read his book before you mouth off about something you obviously know nothing about.

I fully support him for V.P. Bergrum, or whatever his name is, has been campaigning for V.P. since he first showed up in those debates. It’s transparently obvious. Who is he, anyway? A no-name governor from nowhere whose ambition exceeds his ability. He has money, long greasy hair like Newsome, a toothy grin, slime, but that’s about all. Rubio is hardly much better.

JD Vance was a never Trumper.

No politicians. No insiders. No No NO.

I wanted Ben Carson, but my Gosh, he’s so slow now. He puts you to sleep. No energy.

I like a guy like Burgum , but he’s another one who even one year ago was a devout antitrumper like Vance.

Right now I’m voting for Sarah Huckabee.

TRUMP SAYS HIS PICK WILL BE A THE DEBATES.

“Burgum is an out of touch elite-ist pretending to get it.”

************

I hope Trump has the good sense not to choose him. Even if he checked some of the boxes, his state is only 3 electoral votes. Makes no sense to pick him IMO.

Trumps best VP pick would be New York Rep. Elise Stefanik.

*************

Certainly still a possibility. Recall that Trump has a bit of a history choosing women execs to run his various businesses. Winning NY is unlikely but Stefanik would, as you say, help out with the female vote nationwide. He’s already picking up lots of black and hispanic support on his own but needs every female vote he can get.

I’m also a big fan of Youngkin as the pick. He actually might be able to deliver a key state. In an election that is bound to be close, I think this has to be a TOP priority.

I like Carson, as a person, but he’s not a dynamic speaker. He tends to fade when attacked. If polls show he could be a difference maker in Michigan? Maybe. I don’t think many black voters relate with the neurosurgeon.

I still think a female would be a good choice, and I think Stefanik is a possibility. She’s recently lost weight and has been doing a great job on the speaking circuit.

I’m excited to see who Trump picks.
