President Trump has a campaign event scheduled at the Liacouras Center at Temple University on Saturday. Not far away from the North Philly campus, the S.S. United States floats on the Delaware in South Philly where it is docked. It's fate is uncertain but the clock is ticking following its eviction from the pier where it has been paying $850 a day in rent. The ship must leave by September 12th. Unfortunately, the Rats running the city, state, and the corrupt globalist occupyng the White House, can't find the money to dredge around an abandoned wharf just north of the great ship's current location to keep the ship from being sunk as a reef or scrapped. Will Trump make hay on the pending tragedy of the S.S. United States?

Someone forward this to the Trump campaign please. Someone here must be able to get this to the Trump people.

I visited the Queen Mary last month and you wonder if they could restore and preserve this ship in the same manner (hotel and restaurant and tours).

Trump's campaign slogan is "Make America Great Again!". The ship can be the symbol of the campaign: a record holding great ship, the S.S. United States, that the corrupt and incompetent Rats can't be bothered to save. Quite literally, it is THE ship of state!

I believe she’s too far gone to be turned into a hotel, considering the dredging problem she’ll probably be scrapped in place.

Spend enough money, of course they could restore it. But it would be a LOT of money. That ship was pretty much stripped to the bulkheads during asbestos removal in the 1990s.

The Queen Mary has been a financial disaster for the City of Long Beach. They’ve gone through several management companies, all without success. If Long Beach didn’t stick its reputation on the QM in the 1960s and 1970s the ship would have been sent to the reefs long ago.
You are lucky the ship didn’t capsize during your visit.

White elephant. John McGraw said the same thing about Ben Shibe and the Philadelphia Athletics. It became their logo, and remained so in Kansas City and Oakland:

Government excels at spending a lot of money on wasteful things as long as the right people are getting a cut. So far, that hasn't happened with this ship.

I hope not. The government has no business in saving this ship or supporting its upkeep!

Since the government funded its construction, funding dredging a place for it at an abandoned pier which is full of broken bottles and has become a homeless camp can be considered in the public interest. It's a maritime marvel, and well worth saving nearby the U.S.S. New Jersey, the U.S.S. Olympia, the Moshulu, and other historic vessels on the Delaware.

I’m guessing she’s stuffed to the gills with asbestos. Even scrapping in place will be a task and a half. Dredging and sinking her as a reef is the most likely outcome.

Ah, ok. Scratch my last post.
Scrapping in place is more likely. Sad.

You are guessing wrong. The asbestos was removed in Ukraine in the 90's before its arrival in Philly. The result of that is that the internal bulkheads for the cabins were disassembled and have not been reassembled. At present, its interior can be either restored to its original configuration, or redesigned for present needs. The problem has been funding, and it was spending over $300,000 per year just to rent the pier. That was money that didn't go towards other things, like a paint job.

Private funds went into maintaining those vessels.
The taxpayer should not pay for the restoration of the SS United States. I’d chip in.

Do you think the inner-city blacks care about that ship? They want to hear how Trump can get them out of the bind the Democrats have put them in.

You’re right. Inner city blacks don’t care about that ship. ? They want to hear how Trump can help them get out from under the oppressive thumb of the Democrats.
It would be counter-productive for him to visit that ship.
