Of course, comparing a single stock’s market cap to a country’s GDP is not a perfect exercise,

Its actually a pointless exercise.

its like saying "If you owned Nvidia, you could sell it and buy 600 million Big Mac Hamburgers!"

The relevant comparison would be between revenue and GDP. That would put its rank in the 60s.

Nvidia Corp.’s meteoric rise makes it not only the third-largest company in the U.S. in terms of market capitalization, but also bigger than most other countries’ economies, based on gross domestic product. The chip maker’s stock closed at $788.17 on Friday, giving it a market value of $1.97 trillion.

Third largest? No.

Nvidia overtakes Apple as No. 2 most valuable company

(Reuters) -Shares of Nvidia rallied to record highs on Wednesday, with the AI chipmaker's stock market valuation hitting the $3 trillion mark and overtaking Apple to become the world's second most valuable company.

“The chip maker’s stock closed at $788.17 on Friday”

Not today’s Friday close. The market is still open

Yup, Nvidia is worth $3 trillion.

Are you worried about the Chinese getting advanced chip technology?

No, almost none of our chips will end up in Chinese or Russian weapons.

They’ll be everywhere in the USA and EU, however.

I missed the rise from Oct to June where nvidia tripled in price.
I own lots of AMD which only doubled.... then dropped more then 50% and is now up to $161 with a recent rise of $7+ in one day.

I plan on buying nvidia if AMD does not start to go up faster. then Starlink when it becomes available in the future which is unknown.
