2ND GREATEST PLAYER TO EVER PLAY THE GAME. Would have hit 820 Home Runs if he didn’t play in Candelstick.

Announcer on feed just said “gone too soon!”
Yeah I guess, but not a bad run.
Don’t know if he stayed active and relatively healthy.

I remember seeing Willie hit a homer at Dodger stadium in the early 60s when he was with the Giants. I think it was my very first pro baseball game.
100s of games later I still remember it like it was yesterday.

RIP Willie. You inspired a lot of kids to play ball. Wonder if there’s any relation to Willie Mays Hayes.

Willie always made time to visit with the kids after games. he was very nice with the kids and would toss baseballs to them and even play a little catch
and he never ever charged for signing their casts or pictures
a real pro

If he knew he was going to live this long, he might have taken care of himself better.
I know, I'm ripping off a quote from Mickey Mantle.
Imagine how many home runs he would have hit if Fenway Park was his home field.

I saw Mays at Wrigley Field when the Giants played the Cubs in April 1962. It's the only time I've seen National League teams play...although I was at the 1961 All Star Game at Fenway.
