That would be the worst possible solution. What are you thinking?

If he is actually sent to jail I hope there is a truckers strike to end all strikes.

And all bankers close up shop.

Get out IMMEDIATELY put everything up for sale. it would force everyone into bankruptcy.

Remember what happened to Bud Light? THAT LEVEL of boycotting.

“That is called Interstate Flight To Avoid Prosecution.”

He’s a Resident of Florida, not New York.
There is no flight until he is legally ordered to jail, or appear in court, and THEN refuses, after appeal.

Federal - because he crossed state lines to avoid prosecution in New York.

He was found guilty and is awaiting his sentence.

If he refuses to return, a federal warrant will be issued for his arrest.

Hmmm… I don’t think that was his motive for moving to Florida, though Never Trumpers would surely disagree with my opinion.

He’s not avoiding prosecution, he’s avoiding imprisonment. I am pretty sure that even in New York he can get bail pending his appeal.

Wow - this thread is going completely bananas over Interstate Flight!

Do US Post Offices still display criminal Wanted posters?

Almost every person on the FBI Most Wanted List is charged with Interstate Flight!

If Trump is locked up, the left will have nothing to say when they are dealt with in kind. Locking him up would be the worst thing for them to do. I doubt they realize that.

Sending the FBI to arrest Trump and drag him back to NY to serve a state sentence might be easier said than done in a few states I know of. I don’t think it would be a good idea for Trump to try it and I don’t think he would consider it, but a blue on blue confrontation between the FBI and state or even local law enforcement is not out of the question. Heck even the Secret Service probably wants a piece of the FBI’s ass.

Why can’t the state of Florida sue NY for violating the constitutional rights of its Florida resident, DJT?

I have a question.

I have a question...

How does an "acting" interim judge appointed by other judges to fill a temporary shortage in a county court get the authority to jail the leading candidate in the next Presidential election?

Until the 1980’s state governors had broad discretion over turning over fugitives but federal law has changed and they have very little discretion now. There is however still one loophole. If the person being demanded is serving a sentence in the state he fled to the state/governor does not have to turn him over until the sentence is served. Now that leaves a lot of wiggle room if a state and governor and local court want to avail themselves of it. You “arrest” Trump, charge him with something, he pleads guilty and gets sentenced. His prison could be Mar A Lago or the governors mansion or a comfy home on the grounds of the state prison.

Would that be a smart move? Probably not, but nationally and culturally both the left and the right are ready to challenge federal supremacy, and both the left and the right have been asserting state’s rights albeit over very different issues. Sooner or later a conflict will either be ginned up or develop organically. This one would be more interesting than some of the other possibilities with echoes of the fugitive slave act to boot and we all know how that dispute evolved.

Getting bail pending appeal is up to the judge but the appeals court can stay the sentence pending appeal if the choose. Since the appeals court in Manhattan is as bat shit crazy with TDS as Merchan I doubt they will even accept the appeal let alone grant it.

Guaranteed Biden would release every federal agent to ruthlessly track him down and bring him to Rikers, that is if they don’t murder him saying “we felt threatened” as they plant a gun on Trump.

I’d settle for the five hundred :) Sell now and avoid the inheritance tax headaches for your heirs.
