When did volleyball or cricket become major sports anywhere?

I don’t know about volleyball, but FYI cricket is the world’s 2nd most popular sport in the world behind only soccer. A big game in India will have a billion viewers.

It’s a great game with many similarities to baseball.

The biggest difference is in the scoring. a MLB game probably averages about 8-10 runs combined for both teams for a game that lasts 2.5 hours.

If cricket is played in a format that lasts 2.5-3.0 hours, the score for EACH TEAM is about 175. So, a LOT more scoring than in baseball and a high percentage of “pitches” are hit.
