Stephen A. Smith claimed the discourse surrounding Caitlin Clark — much like Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement — highlights a racial divide in America.
Clark faced backlash on Thursday for her initial response to questions about her named being used in culture war debates nationwide. She said she wasn’t bothered by the discourse because she didn’t pay attention to it; and that response drew the ire of many online, including Connecticut Sun guard Dijonai Carrington.
Later that day, Clark was asked more directly how she felt about people using her to push racism and misogyny. She took a more firm stance by saying the women in the WNBA deserve more respect and expressed her disapproval of those agendas.
On Friday’s episode of First Take, Smith explained how the nationwide conversation surrounding Clark shows that the U.S. still has societal issues to work on.
“She is a White, young lady,” Smith said, “and she’s been a magnet, in a way, that has benefitted the league in ways that others have not — even though their efforts have been worthy and deserving of being as celebrated, if not even more celebrated. And it’s a reminder that no matter how far we believe that we have advanced as a society, there’s still such a long way to go because in the end, if you’re White, you’re bright, you’re right; and as a result, the shine comes your way in the eyes of a lot of people in America.

The divide is coming from the blacks, not the whites.

Before Obama the divide was entirely cultural. Now it’s there. It’s real and it’s tangible everywhere. In many ways as bad as anything in the fifties, but this time it’s from the dark side.

Um...it was the white gal who broke all the scoring records. If she hadn’t, no one would be paying attention to her.
But that seems to be the point: A certain demographic insists they should be “celebrated” even if they underperform!
Not being very interested in sports, I looked Stephen up. Yep, he’s from the “Celebrate us even when we don’t deliver the goods” side!
Smith is a racist
This has historically been a majority white country with a significant black minority. Anything else is by permission from those two groups. The remarkable thing about Obama is that he managed to make black Americans second class minorities in their own country. Remember back when only white fathers were portrayed as idiots in television advertising? That’s changing. More and more, it’s all fathers.
Smith is like Bill Mahre. Plays both sides just to raise eyebrows. It’s a very lucrative gig.
Smith is a little racist piggy. He thinks America is the New Africa for rich negroes. A real piece of meat with two eyes.
Obama normalized, popularized black racism. Hateful comments like Smith’s wouldn’t have been tolerated before Obama.

Yes. Just read up on black liberation theology. Their plan is to exterminate whites and take all their stuff. They don’t think about what happens when all the stuff they stole runs out. What then?
