Colorado congressional candidate and sitting State Rep. Richard Holtorf (R) received a tough grilling this week at the hands of local 9News anchor Kyle Clark over his apparent hypocrisy when it comes to abortion rights.
Holtorf made headlines back in January when he defended paying for his girlfriend’s abortion, despite being an adamant pro-life lawmaker and abortion critic. “Anti-abortion GOP lawmaker praises the impact of the abortion he paid for,” read the headline of a local report by Clark from the beginning of the year.
o his credit, Holtorf sat down with Clark to discuss the issue.
“If abortion was the best choice for your girlfriend, why try to deny that choice to other women?” Clark asked the lawmaker running in the crowded GOP primary for Colorado’s 4th congressional district.
“So let me give you some context about that situation. Because I’m a pro-life Catholic and I believe everyone should choose life. Now, if you listen to my presentation on the House floor, did you listen to it?” Holtorf shot back.
“I did, in fact, I just quoted from it,” replied Clark as the two then spoke over each other.
Clark then clarified, “In fairness, your logic was a bit scattered in that speech. What I’m asking you about is the fact that you said that you respected your girlfriend’s right to an abortion, and then gave her money to help her through an important time ‘to live her best life.’”
As Holtorf protested Clark asked again, “But yet you’ve tried to deny that to other women. And I’m asking, why is abortion good for your girlfriend? Bad for other women? That’s my question. Simple, simple question.”
“She had an abortion. Was that her choice? Yes. Did she have that right? Yes. Was it my choice, Kyle? No,” replied Holtorf.
Clark pushed back, “Why do you seem deny the choice that you said was best for your girlfriend’s life?”
“Let me finish. Let me finish to explain,” Holtorf insisted.
“Why do you seek to deny it to other women?” Clark pressed.
“Let me, let me — I don’t, I don’t,” Holtorf replied.
“You have voted to restrict abortion access,” Clark shot back.
“And I have. And I’m a pro-life person. I think you should try to choose life every time. But there are exceptions. And there are times when you need abortion. Abortion is a medical procedure,” declared Holtorf.
“Is one of the exceptions when Richard Holtorf is the father?” Clark demanded.
“No, it isn’t that. It’s not about me. Don’t personalize it, make it about me,” Holtorf replied.
Clark hit back, “You told the story on the house floor, sir.”
“Okay? That doesn’t matter. That’s a story. Okay? That’s not that important. What’s more important is the policy,” Holtorf replied.

I am aware of those things, and you’re making an argument I have made many times.
However ...
He PAID FOR IT.
Thank makes him complicit.
If he hadn’t paid for it, I’d agree with you.
The two most important words in a male/female relationship are “Yes, Dear.”
Most of the time they are uttered by the male.
She is normally a wonderful person that I want to retain in my life. As a normally wonderful person, she knows many women who would also assist in procuring an abortion.
In modern life you must accept and often pay for many things you do not like. American taxpayers and American businesses know this well.
As a human male in a relationship with a human female, you must accept and often pay for many things you do not like.
I don’t believe in fighting battles I can’t win, most especially with a female with whom I am romantically involved.
His girlfriend should have crossed her legs. Problem solved.
Thank makes him complicit.
If he hadn't paid for it, I'd agree with you.

you could be right. or maybe he learned from that experience and it brought about repentance and a change of conviction. and he changed his political position.

Amendment XIV, Section 1
“The appellee and certain amici argue that the fetus is a “person” within the language and meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment. In support of this, they outline at length and in detail the well known facts of fetal development. If this suggestion of personhood is established, the appellant’s case, of course, collapses, for the fetus’ right to life would then be guaranteed specifically by the Amendment.”

He is NOT a PRO-LIFE CATHOLIC IF HE PAID FOR HER ABORTION!
if it was a bet between us /-) , you would probably win.
Thought libs loved abortion?

Probably ... I take no pleasure in it, though.
Not only an accomplice, but he has excommunicated himself by procuring an abortion. It is automatic, no formal decree required.
He’s as prolife as Joe Biden.

“’Well, look, I’m — I’m very pro-choice,’ Trump said. ‘I hate the concept of abortion. I hate it. I hate everything it stands for. I cringe when I listen to people debating the subject, but you still — I just believe in choice. Again, it may be a little bit of a New York background, because there is some different attitude in different parts of the country. And, you know, I was raised in New York, and grew up and work and everything else in New York City. But I am strongly for choice and yet I hate the concept of abortion.’”

Liar. He paid for the killing. It WAS his choice.
This guy reminds me of hypocrites who oppose same sex marriages, yet they attend them.
Yell all you want, but he DID have a say. He said he would pay for the abortion, and he did. He is complicit.
I don’t have cable TV so I don’t watch local news, but from what I understand 9news is ate up leftie woke and Kyle Clark is the worst. That said, this guy running is a complete hypocrite and he makes conservatives look like idiots.
