Study reveals nearly half of US EV drivers want to return to ICE cars and nearly one-third, globally. The media is baffled.

I’ve always been told experience is the best teacher. Add to this the fact that 78% of American EV owners also own an ICE vehicle.

EVs can serve people well depending on the type of use, which is limited compared to ICE vehicles.

Unless the technology sufficiently rivals ICE cars its never going to work.

I don’t know but it looks like a lot of Tesla’s have been given permanent residence in unused garage space, barns and back yards.

Question: Is this the study that questioned household EV owners or individual EV owners? Here's how that's relevant.

My wife and I own a relatively new EV (2 years old) and do most of our driving in it (49K miles in 2 years). So it definitely fits must, but not all of our needs (we also have a gas pickup). Though we like our EV a lot, our next car purchase will probably be a combustion engine vehicle. Why? Because our gas pickup is pretty old and probably be the next car that needs replacing. Contrasted with most EV's are relatively new and not the next car that needs replacing.

I agree with the overall sentiment of the video, which shames the left for loudly proclaiming that everyone should have to switch to EV's. I just question this main data point that he bases the video from.

MGUY is usually careful to make distinctions, but not in this case. The question was not about replacing EV with ICE, but next car being ICE. Since folks are going to have a hard time offloading their EV, they can still use it to go shopping.

Initial cost of owning an EV is much higher than owning a comparably equipped ICE vehicle. Then, the long-term cost of owning an EV is way more than the comparably equipped ICE vehicle, especially after the initial battery starts going bad an/or starts failing to hold a charge. Insurance costs are higher, no matter how new or old an EV is.

The other disadvantages are clear from the start, but heck, some people listen too much to the environmental-wackos.

I recently talked to a couple who had just moved from Colorado to Illinois. The husband was able to do the 900-mile trip in one day in his ICE car. He flew back to Colorado to get his wife and drive their Tesla to Illinois. The same trip took them four days with lots of hassles finding charging stations, waiting at charging stations, etc. What fun!

That’s in Australia. Over here they probably feel the same but are hesitant to admit it, for fear of leftist reprisals!

Haha, even the people that bought into the EVs don't want them now.

Good luck getting out from under that turd.

Just this week I was at Walmart and I saw the EV charging station totally full with all of the idiots sitting in their cars or standing outside their cars like morons with nothing better to do.

“especially after the initial battery starts going bad an/or starts failing to hold a charge.”

Tesla batteries last 300k to 400k miles.

The question was not about replacing EV with ICE, but next car being ICE.

The ICE cars starting in 2026 will be a spy center on wheels. The car gets to decide if you get to drive (present drunk drivers, doncha' know?). I am holding on to our 2004 Chevy Venture and 2018 Toyota Avalon and going full-Cuba on car maintenance.
