Why would anyone wear that spandex crap anyway unless they are racing in a legitimate race??? I don’t see any need to cut “wind resistance” when leisurely riding along a trail...
But it don’t matter to me...I said when I got my drivers license 60 years ago, I’d never pedal anything again and I kept my word...LOL

Spandex usually comes with a padded seat. Riding in hiking shorts gets very painful after a while. I ride between 5 and 7 hours a week and, believe me, the spandex with a padded seat makes a big difference.
Spandex is also cool.
Despite what people think, it is a functional choice.

I used to bike a lot with a club outside Amsterdam. I will say this…the padding with the chamois in the crotch really helped make for a more comfortable long distance ride. That of course is no defense on the attitude of the idiots today.
