WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — When two friends took a walk on the Kent Trails in Wyoming, Michigan, Sunday with their children, they never expected it to lead to a police report and a viral video.
The men, who asked their names not be shared due to the attention the confrontation is receiving online, say a cyclist they encountered on the trails hit one of them in the face, cursed at them and told them to put one of their children on a leash.
One of the men had his 3-year-old son and 4-month-old daughter with him on the walk. His friend, who was visiting from Detroit, was with his 2-year-old. They were both pushing strollers, with the toddlers climbing in and out at various times.
The father of the 3-year-old said they were on their way back home after stopping at a park, and the kids had “reached their limit.”
“We had made sure to stop for other people who were on bikes. We have been pretty aware of that. We had to pull over to the side, grab our kids, hold their hands just to make sure they go by. We had actually just done that for a couple of other cyclists when this man approached us,” the friend who recorded the video said.
That man rode up as the 3-year-old sat down in the middle of the trail, according to the two friends.
“At that point, you know, my mind is like, OK, just stay put. Because, you know, if I run out in front of the cyclist, that’s a danger. If the kid runs out, that’s a danger, because where’s the cyclist going to go?” the 3-year-old’s father said.
The friends say the cyclist began cursing at the 3-year-old, telling him to get out of the way.

Just the rude ones like in this video.
The cyclist has been ID’d by police and now it’s in the hands of the prosecutor to decide if charges are appropriate.
Talking last night with fellow cyclists about how we are less inclined to ride on the road these days. Many motorists think bike belong trails anyhow, but then you have situations like this. If I nearly hit someone’s child I’d be upset too - but mostly out of fear and Adrenalin than any feeling of entitlement. Hard enough to anticipate the actions of adults with their hearing blocked by headphones or ear buds, much less those of a 3year-old.
Cue the laughing Nelson meme.
Never mind that how about they just obey traffic laws? Stopping at red lights or stop signs? Obeying speed limits? watching out for people who have just parked and are about to open a car door? That last one? This was tough to us as children when we first learned to ride a bike yet these grown adults don’t seem to know this and slam into open doors every time.
The one I hate the most? When there is a pack of them and they are blocking traffic because they won’t move to the right and let cars pass them.
There are some evil people on this forum. Their posts here demonstrate murderous intent, which could possibly be used against them in court.
I’ve seen that one on youtube. was he asleep at the wheel?
They do. BUT physics isn’t that interested. Your dog or kids suddenly goes in front of a bike without enough time for the bike to stop...
I used to ride a lot and I understand lowering your head occasionally just to stretch some. Can’t understand his missing whatever it was he smacked. He had a long straight-away to see it coming.
That's just rude, no name. You're a jerk. Maybe 47.82% deserve to be run over, but not all.
When they called it a “trail”, I imagined a path through the woods.
That is a 5 or 6 ft wide sidewalk.
Why would anyone wear that spandex crap anyway unless they are racing in a legitimate race??? I don’t see any need to cut “wind resistance” when leisurely riding along a trail...
But it don’t matter to me...I said when I got my drivers license 60 years ago, I’d never pedal anything again and I kept my word...LOL
The kid could bite his ankles!!
C’mon man!!
Then the cyclist is riding too fast around pedestrians. Slow down.
“say a cyclist they encountered on the trails hit one of them in the face, cursed at them and told them to put one of their children on a leash.”
And he’s not in the hospital? I would have decked his ass.
I don't think people with kids realize how dangerous it is to let really young kids run on down the trail in remote areas. There are animals out there that will take a kid. I have seen coyotes in my own backyard. Though I live in a town of 40,000, my property backs up to a wetland/forest area.
Why is the media blurring out this AH’s face?
Is it because most of these bicyclist are commie lefist?
Anyone have a face shot of this moron?
I’m afraid you just described most of America these days.
