Same here..complete azzholes. Riding side by side on narrow roads with Twisties. They don’t care.

I’m guessing sarcasm on your part since the tiny minority must live in all the areas those agreeing with me live.

They seldom if ever stop at a stop sign, pass me on the right when moving slow and there is no bike lane, ride 2,3,4 abreast blocking a lane vice single file... I could go on but the majority here are azzholes.

Most cyclist ride for the joy of wearing Spandex and their little helmet.

The cyclist doesn’t know how to act like a mature human being.

Well, I see now why you bikers like the spandex...Thanks for the info...I just figured a lot wore it because it looks “professional”...I was mistaken...Those are good reasons to wear it....

I’m a Home Economics major

Some of my buddies and I took a home econ class in high school because that's where the girls were.

We were shocked at how interesting, practical, and fun it was.

And, yep, the girls were cute.

There are some evil people on this forum. Their posts here demonstrate murderous intent, which could possibly be used against them in court.

Sounds like my other “minority” category: I’m a lawyer, and there’sa saying that 99% of lawyers give the rest of us a bad name. My experience here in San Antonio is what I relayed.

BTW, the rules of etiquette and table manners I learned in home econ served me extremely well in my career (I did a lot of client entertaining...mostly in NYC).

Mom's try to teach that stuff to boys but we don't usually listen. When you learn it in a class full of cute girls, you pay attention and it sinks in.

That class was infinitely better than the alternative at the time (study hall).

I don't wear the fancy jerseys. Just t-shirts.

Some of my friends who wear brightly colored jerseys believe that it makes them more visible on the road. Given how much people dislike cyclists, I think it makes them good targets.;-)

BTW, I only ride my road bike (and mountain bike) at a local state park. No cars...and very few hikers.

Sounds like the safe way to ride...

It bothers me to see several bikers riding together side by side on two lane (one each direction)...I’ve been backed up behind 4-5 cars trying to get by them before...Frustrating to say the least...

One of the cyclists in my town rides on busy highways because he says (and he's right) that the roads in question are designated "bike routes." I tell him that he's going to get killed but he says he has a good rearview mirror and it's within his rights as a citizen.

He's an idiot.

And BTW this idiot spent his career as a truck driver for Walmart so he should know better.

You make some good points.

I used to walk and bike on a local “rail trail”. The path wasn’t all that wide but was very popular and often crowded on weekends and on nice summer late weekday afternoons with a large canopy of trees and a winding path in some areas, with walkers of all fitness types and speeds, families with kids in strollers, and bike riders like me who wanted a leisurely ride and the bike riders who wanted to go faster.

Most people followed the curtesy that if you were slower, you moved to the far right of the path and let faster walkers and bikers have the right of way. If you needed to pass slower “traffic” whether walking or biking, you checked behind and beside you to make sure it was safe to do so and you were not cutting someone off.

But I can say a few times people in front of moved in front of me without checking if someone was coming up behind them.

But I also saw very slow walkers and people with very little kids, in and out of strollers occupying the very center of the path without a care in the world who was around them.

This caused the faster walkers and bikers to go into the “slow” area on the right side of the path to get around them and I saw some near collisions, especially with bikes and especially around curves who didn’t see the people in the middle of the path until the very last minute.

If your toddler climbs out of their stroller and gets away from you and sits down in the middle of the path and you cannot take charge of the situation or know that your very tired and cranky toddler wasn’t up for this forced march and decides to have a temper tantrum and sit in the middle of the path, it shouldn’t be a surprised that it would piss some people off.

Was the biker in the right? To me it doesn’t seem he was. But I can understand the frustration.

I definitely the biker should have stopped and confronted them. Although he was stopped pretty maybe he wrecked dodging the kid. But yeah it’s random out there. Oblivious people walking by side taking the whole path and not listening when you announce your pass then yelling that you scared them. People with those long black nylon leashes (that are invisible against tar) standing on one side of the trail with their dog on the other. The guy with mirrors on his handle bars making his bike a foot wider riding down the center line and not using his mirrors. So many dumb ass encounters I had on the trail.

Also narrowly missed a rattlesnake I thought was bull snake until I was 6 inches from him.

Got hit in the forehead by grasshopper which a nice coating of dust to hit both eyes blinding me for a bit.

The lady with the parrot in her backpack/cage. She wasn’t doing anything wrong, but definitely distracting and probably there were problems around her.

Lots of random out there.

I am reminded of the people I sometimes encounter at the grocery store.

They park their grocery cart sideways in the middle of the aisle while they stand for many, many minutes pursuing what sort of canned soup they want to buy and are completely oblivious that no one can get by them.

When you say, “excuse me” or ask then to move their cart or move their cart for them in order to get by, they get offended.

“How dare you interrupt my shopping by wanting to do your shopping.”
