They will abandon the first daughter. He’ll get remarried and have a son. He will live happily ever after even if his wife is living in Hell because she’s with him.

Due to sex selective births China has thirty million more males than females. That’s by Chinese statistics, which normally understate problems. This has contributed to a dramatic decline in marriages, birth rates and Chinese culture in general. (Official stats say the replacement rate is .9 but outside experts say it is closer to .5.
Replacement rate is 2.) India’s problem isn’t quite as bad, but that’s probably because such tests are not readily available to the average Indian. In India a woman has to have a dowry to get married. That’s why the man didn’t want a second daughter.

At https://www.guttmacher.org/journals/psrh/2005/reasons-us-women-have-abortions-quantitative-and-qualitative-perspectives#15a the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, dances every direction they can to interpret their results to NOT say that women are coerced into abortion. According to their interviews with post-abortive women, women most often abort because they feel alone, can’t afford a child, feel responsible for somebody else, and are having “relationship issues”. It all means that the woman is told if she gives birth to the child she will be on her own. But The AGI says that doesn’t paint a picture of coercion, since of the typical woman’s 4-5 reasons to abort, only 1% listed coercion as the TOP reason..

I can’t find their data to do a reasonable analysis of how many said they felt coerced. The reasons given read like a deadbeat sperm donor’s script for coercing the woman.

I saw documentary some time ago about the plight of girls in India. It said that no family wants to have daughters because they won't be able to take care of their parents when they get old. As a result when a woman is carrying a girl she often aborts her child. That happens thanks to the fact that in India....a country of shocking poverty...there's an ultrasound clinic on every street corner where a woman can learn the sex of her child.

I hope her living daughter is taken from her husband and lives with her parents instead.
