Recent excavations in Pompeii have uncovered a remarkable room with walls painted in a vivid, sky-blue hue, a color seldom seen in Pompeian ruins.
This room, discovered in the Insula 10 area of Regio IX, is thought to have served as a sacrarium, a space dedicated to pagan rituals and the preservation of sacred objects.
The walls of this 8-square-meter room, known as Room 32, are adorned with frescoes in the Fourth Style, characterized by its intricate and narrative aesthetic...
The sacrarium's walls are painted a brilliant sky blue, a color rarely seen in Pompeian frescoes and typically reserved for spaces of great significance. The blue backdrop is complemented by red-lined niches, where statues and other devotional objects likely stood.
The frescoes depict female figures representing the four seasons, agriculture, and shepherding. These figures are adorned with crowns of flowers, flowing garments, and in some cases, depicted without clothes, adding to the room's mystical aura...
Among the discoveries were 15 amphorae, two jugs, two lamps, and three decorative boxes embedded in the walls that likely held devotional statues. Building materials such as piles of oyster shells, intended to be mixed with plaster and mortar, indicate that the house was undergoing renovations at the time of the eruption...
This discovery aligns with the broader context of Roman literature and art, where the pastoral and agrarian themes often symbolized a nostalgic return to simpler times. Works like Virgil's "Georgics" and "Eclogues" celebrated the rural idyll while acknowledging the tension between the idyllic past and the realities of contemporary Roman life. The room's decorations may reflect this cultural ambivalence, embodying both reverence for agricultural deities and a longing for the lost simplicity of rural life.

I was poking a stick at the satanists.
Maybe this is why so many posters got upset with me.
It’s possible they don’t know why they got upset.
You entered an archaeology topic to mention satanism because that's how you lash out. You're a troll.
I think a troll posts for very different reasons.
Trolls post with the intent to cause a harmful effect on the thread while having no real interest in the topic of their post.
In my case, I have significant interest in the topic of my post and no desire to cause a harmful effect on the thread.
Nonsense. You started right out with your usual BS, and have been going forward with more and more.
I want to find someone who can build a Lapis Lazuli grip for my .45, since the Sumerians to the Egyptians and everyone in-between cherished it. It was like Jade to the Chinese or MesoAmericans and it was blue.
I have a beautiful lapis necklace .
…
Lapis lazuli should be available online, although it may not be cheap. The most prized kind has calcite inclusions, if memory serves.
Why are you attempting to tell me what my intention is?
It only makes you look worse.
No, it doesn’t, because what I said is obviously true, and anyone can see it, and you just look even more stupid and troll-like, troll.
Then can you provide a list of groups and individuals we’re allowed to reference, so posters can know ahead of time?
I’ll give you a reminder of what a troll is:
A poster with the intent to cause a harmful effect on the thread while having no real interest in the topic of their post.
Meanwhile, the following describes non-trolls, including me:
A poster with significant interest in the topic of their post and no desire to cause a harmful effect on the thread.
Spoken like the troll you are.
You mean you flipped the meaning of “troll” upside down, so that it now means the opposite?
And you’re still dumping your troll BS all over the topic. Every one of your posts have done that.
The pagans will be downright giddy over this recent excavation in Pompeii.
Thanks!
