A pageant queen who was crowned Miss National American Alabama 2024 is facing backlash from fans and former titleholders questioning the legitimacy of her title.
Sara Milliken, a plus-sized beauty pageant contestant, stirred controversy following her win over Memorial Day weekend as vicious trolls attacked her weight.
But now critics are voicing their confusion after several media outlets referred to Milliken as 'Miss Alabama.'
They were quick to point out the 23-year-old did not compete in the official Miss America competition.
One former winner, Miss Alabama Amie Beth Shaver, claimed she doesn't know what that contest 'even is.'
Shaver emphasized that there is only one recognized Miss Alabama title, which leads to the Miss America competition. In addition, there is Miss Alabama USA, which sends contestants to the Miss USA pageant.
'Miss America now is 101 years old and then Miss USA, which goes on the Miss Universe pageant,' Shaver told 1819news. 'But this National American Miss, no one has heard of it. I don't even know what it is.'
The winner of Miss Alabama USA in 2024 was Diane Westhoven.
Shaver claimed Miss America owns the rights to the 'Miss Alabama' title, so it is wrong to use that title for a different pageant.
'If you are a pageant person, you're only going to participate in either Miss America or Miss USA,' Shaver added.

I was wondering about the weird title of the pageant, Miss National American Alabama, but I don’t care about pageants so didn’t look any further.
Good grief….
Remember when Sarah Huckabee Sanders was ripping apart the libs and all SNL and other losers could do was call her fat?
We jumped to her defense. And rightly so. Because her job wasn’t about looks.
It’s the same principle with this pagent.
“Our representatives are chosen on the basis of 4 required areas of competition. 30% of the score comes from their communication skills during their Personal Introduction, 30% from her poise and presentation during the Formal Wear Modeling Competition, 30% on personality, communication and confidence in an Interview, and 10% on participating in our Community Service Project. National American Miss pageants, while glamorous events, are not at all like typical “beauty” pageants. In fact, as you see above, all of the scoring in our pageant is based on personality, confidence and communication. Good communication and presentation skills are what we want to recognize and encourage. Braces, glasses, skin problems, varying heights, weights and appearances, are all a part of creating the special and unique individual that you are and that we want to celebrate!”
But nooooo…THIS is different, say the online “experts” whose BMI is prolly nothing close to GQ.
Nothing in your screed refutes anything in my post.
This is not about “positivity”, a woke liberal concept itself by the way, it’s about putting out distorted views on what is healthy.
Don’t fall for liberal tripe, you’re welcome.
So, you called Sarah fat?
That pretty blond girl should sue for robbery!
The brunette in the white dress ... Stunning.
Most of us don’t fall for your type of BS straw man and cam tell the difference between this ms Alabama and ms sanders. One is chunky, and quite attractive to me, while the other is freakin morbidly obese.
You got seven young ladies in that photo ...

Arguable, but reasonable men may disagree on some things.
Meanwhile, I gaze into my crystal ball and I see Type-II Diabetes and Congestive Heart Failure.
Pant load, now wide load?
At least she appears to be a chick and not a dude.
I guess you missed JR’s recent discussion about profanity.
Are you saying she isn’t?
I’d say Miss Tater Tot Casserole”.
