I must admit that I blame Hollywood for it.

You see, because dialogue in so many movies is laced with profanity, moviegoers in other countries who watch the subtitled versions, get the wrong impression that profanity is an everyday occurrence in American speech.

There is also something going on with the left about young females and female celebrities being encouraged to talk like drunken longshoremen, even media writers and columnists are using the words and they are seen even in titles.

Yes, and a witty Scotsman replied to an Englishman, who had been telling him this:โ€œSure, this is the reason that English horses and Scottish men are the best in the world.โ€œ

I had to smile ๐Ÿ˜€

I like Guinness, but itโ€˜s hard to get here.
I love any kind of stout, such as porter (my taste in beer is possibly more Anglo-Saxon than German), but I cannot drink more than a pint of it. Itโ€™s too strong, or maybe Iโ€˜m too weak ๐Ÿ™‚

Guinness is fine with nice steak. Lots of calories, so I don't drink it often. The "light" offerings with 16 oz at around 145 calories pair nicely with most foods. September brings Sam Adams Oktoberfest. My favorite each year.

Yes, and just like you, I donโ€™t drink it too often. Still, whenever itโ€™s available, I stockpile some of it. And itโ€™s really delicious not only with steak, but also with pot roast or other strongly aromatic beef dishes, I find ๐Ÿ˜€

“Pickled herring is delicious if made right, but it is not โ€œrotten fishโ€.”

One of my favorite things on cruise ships (Holland, sometimes Princess, never saw it on Carnival) was to find the area at the breakfast buffet that had lox, smoked salmon, pickled herring, herring in cream sauce, maybe smoked or pickled mackerel, capers, thin sliced onion, cream cheese and crackers. Great breakfast. I think about that now and then but only keep canned sardines, salmon and tuna at home.
