In other words, the city could REDUCE taxes by $650 million if they don't "invest" in the stadium. Where are they keeping this $650 million horde of cash?
As a Charlottean, let me be the first to say “Go diddle yourself”.
Please support this renovation. NC desperately needs a team that chokes constantly and loses 10 games a year...
Where does the city get that kind of money?
What’s so drastically wrong with that stadium that it needs over 660 large to update it? For a freakin 3-4 hour football game?
Just say NO.
Here in Cleveland, they want 1 billion for renovation from the taxpayers. A second choice is a new 2 billion dollar domed stadium on a different site with Cleveland putting up 1 billion and team owners the rest. This is happening for just about every team in the league. I say every league city should tell these billionaires to pound sand, build or renovate your self or pull out.
EXTORTION
I have a suggestion that could save a lot of money for the citizens of the city: “Well, Bye.”
I have always felt that it would be a good idea for the teams to provide their venue. The folks that want to see a game get to contribute to the venue’s success. That way the taxpayers are not on the hook for a white elephant after 15-20 years.
Think of it like a movie house ... those are not paid for by taxpayers but are owned by for-profit corporations.
That’s cheap compared to the $2 billion fir a new Titans stadium.
Wow, 20 more No. 1 draft picks....
How about Charlotte telling the Panthers to renovate their stadium or leave. It would be interesting to see what other city will waste AT LEAST $880 millions of taxpayer money (and it will likely be much, much more as such “public works projects” almost never are completed on time and under budget) to bring an NFL team to their (soon to be failed) city.
Charlotte should let it go. I understand Oakland has an opening.
could be the biggest litter box in history...
Yes. Lets give more taxpayer money to billionaires. LOL.
More examples of a Banana Republic.
