Well here I go again, buying gadgets.
It has 16 relays so I can turn all kinds of things on and off, including lights. The relays are rated for 2 amps so they'll handle the linear actuators for the sides and gable vents.
I already have a unit with four analog inputs. This one has four analog inputs for a total of eight. Analog is the expensive stuff.
I don't really think I need to open gable vent louvers just part way. I do need to with the drop down sides which will take four analog inputs. That leaves four but one's already being used for wind direction which leaves three.
Soil moisture sensors and pressure sensors are both analog so I'm thinking two soil moisture sensors and a pressure sensor. The pressure sensor is in the case of a major leak in the drip system or a tank running dry. In either case, the pressure will drop to zero or close to it and I want to shut the pump off when that happens.
This $125 purchase replaces about $600 worth of stuff I would have bought.

Now this post I understand. Good pick!
John, Thank you for contacting technical support. This could likely be done within a basic script on the X-420. However, due to the limited recourses for our free technical support we are not able to write a script of this complexity for you. This is also because it is important that you understand how your system works because we cannot directly observe the behavior of your equipment in order to troubleshoot future issues.
Bold text by me. It went on from there but they never did come out and say that they would help me, with a cost. So I guess what they really mean is that I'm a small fry DIY purchaser so they can't be bothered. They want big purchases with a consultation and support contract to go with it.
The script is not that complex, to someone that knows coding.
Open a window all the way when it gets over 80 degrees. Close it when it gets below 65 degrees. That can be done with built in menus.
Only open it half way OR if it's already open, close it half way; if the wind speed is over 40 mph. Cannot be done in the menu system and is all I wanted to know.
They referred me to their BASIC programming language tutorial/reference and also attached a text file with some code to do something totally unrelated to what I want. What a snub.
I'll figure it out eventually.
