I always recommend visiting the Park of the Aqueducts and the Ostia Antica archeological site.

But I think the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Mouth of Truth attractions are overcrowded...

I would never say certain attractions have no merit. But after years of interacting with travelers, I understand that people want alternatives.

Luckily, Rome has priceless art and artifacts around every corner.

Here are five popular attractions that are worth visiting...

1. The Capitoline Museums
2. Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano
3. The Park of the Aqueducts
4. Basilica of Sant'Agostino
5. Ostia Antica

...and five you might want to skip..

1. Vatican Museums are overcrowded
2. You can get a good view of the Colosseum without going inside
3. Walking the Appian Way might be a letdown (see #3 above)
4. Trevi Fountain
5. Mouth of Truth

Her advice is terrible. Yes, Rome is packed with tourists. No, you shouldn’t skip Vatican Museum, the Trevi Fountain, or the Colosseum.

Vatican Museums are overcrowded?? Insane. How can you say to miss these? It is like don’t go see the Mona Lisa.
