Quit conflating Veteran's Day with Memorial Day by posting stories of the feats of Veterans who did not die while serving. You are disrespecting those who gave all in the service of their nation! Jerks
Because most people today have no idea when a 75 year old vet succumbs to multiple myeloma or leukemia, that he actually died as a result of being poisoned on the battlefield.
That’s kind of the way I see it as well.
You’re clueless, smh.
I can't remember everything distinctly on many topics, because my brain doesn't have that kind of capacity anymore, and not sure if it ever had. But I'm fairly certain that I forgotten more than I remember. Far too often, I am too lazy to look it up & refreshen my memory, because who knows if the internet is correct either. 🤣
Sometimes my knowledge consists of what others have stated. I try to verify that in many instances, if I believe it to be important enough to do, or I don't trust the person that told me. The real problem can sometimes come by trusting a person you believe in, who were wrong to begin with. 🤣
Oh well, that is the danger of facts. The are not well documented nor are they even consistently believed by everyone.
Armed Forces Day kind of gets lost in the shuffle since it is not observed as a National Holiday like Memorial & Veterans Days are. Much like the following days are most likely not even known that they exist by the overriding majority of American citizens, regardless if they were Natural Born or Naturalized, for that same reason:
29 March: National Vietnam War Veterans Day (general commemoration in the Armed Forces)
14 June: Flag Day and U.S. Army Birthday (United States Army)
4 August: Coast Guard Day (United States Coast Guard)
17 September: Constitution Day (general commemoration in the Armed Forces)
18 September: Air Force Day (United States Air Force)
13 October: U.S. Navy Birthday (United States Navy)
27 October: Navy Day (United States Navy)
10 November: Marine Corps Birthday (United States Marine Corps)
13 December: National Guard Day (National Guard of the United States)
20 December: Space Force Birthday (United States Space Force)
I must admit my ignorance of knowing that these days exist, except for Flag Day, however, I was ignorant that it's also the birthdate of the U.S. Army as well.
Sometimes I am thankful that my days are numbered. Just wish I knew that darn number precisely. 🤣
You are the same as Joe Biden
Ya. True
he made good sense....and yes, today we celebrate those who sacrificed their lives for this country....WE THANK YOU....
“My father’s will left money to the bugler who blew Taps over his grave at his funeral.”
Blowing Taps was the only thing i did as a kid, that i did for free
later in life, till the VFW closed, on any given day/night there’d be somebody in there i blew for be it their father brother son cousin uncle and bought me a drink
RIP
You or Joe Biden do not get to say who we honor on Memorial Day.
What an absolutely wonderful story. Just made my day. Thank you.
welcome... 8^)
Drinks, affection and gratitude well and humbly earned.
Before reading your #81 I could easily and confidentially argue there is a sharp distinction between "dying while in in the service of your country" and "dying in combat".
There are, of course, two distinct and self-explanatory holidays for our veterans; moreover, not everyone who happens to be injured in a war zone is entitled to a Purple Heart, that being awarded as the result of being wounded in combat.
Your post, however, suggests a better distinction may be that any surviving service member that later died from "combat-related circumstances" is clearly entitled to have their name on the roster on Memorial Day. This would include any who suffered life-challenging injuries.
Thank you.
My time to serve just fell in peacetime, but they were drafting,so what’s one to do? All in all, it has been worthwhile, the time I served.. I knew some who died later in the Vietnam war & grieve for them.
I appreciate all who served. There’s no describing what everyone went through. Those that gave all should be remembered. I did my time and lived. Those that didn’t are in my thoughts. It’s their day. My they RIP.
yes Sir...
You are correct. But you also come across like a jackass
