That thug with a badge deliberately put himself in harm’s way as a pretextual step towards justifying killing Scheffler.
Cops do this crap all the time. They insert themselves into a situation, claim they were in danger, and then they kill someone.
It’s a safe bet that the thug in question has done this before and it’s also a safe bet that he’s murdered people under color of authority.
Now, it turns out to be false.
