I'm deeply involved in AI in my current company. While it is not my described role, I feel it is stupid to wait to be assigned a task. I feel it is best to see an opportunity, and seize it. Therefore, I am now my division's AI Advocate.

I recently put together a use-case, ensured it worked, and made it available to the company. During a town hall, I continuously mentioned the use case (in the chat) and got well over 25 requests for more information.

The use-case is how to record a Zoom meeting, how to create a transcript for it, and how to have our in-house AI create summaries of the meeting. It works, and works well, so I produced an instructional video on how to accomplish it. I was noticed by the Associate VP in charge of AI Engineering. I suspect I will transition to his team sometime in 2025.

All this has got me thinking: How will AI transform society? Here are my current predictions.

I also see a long-term extremely dangerous trend: Vast increases in human incompetence. As people are replaced by AI and robotics, how can they hope to retain their skillset in their chosen profession? If there are far fewer software engineers, who will be able to truly assess and proof AI-generated code? If robotic units take over such things as plumbing or welding, how can humans hope to retain skills in these practices? What happens if AI quits on us, and we have billions of people who no longer have the skill to perform their formerly-chosen profession?

I am not considering Superintelligent AI in these predictions. Upon the advent of ASI, all bets are off and we have zero idea how that will unfold.

It will create money and voters out of thin air.

...oh, wait...

Never mind.

I don’t believe AI has the ability to think. This is where humans still have the edge.

re: the disruptions you write about. I agree that some of these will take place.

re: AI and policing, etc. What comes to mind is Robocop.

You can see it already. People are stopping to think on their own and relying on technology.

How many people surrender to mapquest rather than learning their route?

How many people can do math in their heads?

Memory and memorization are part of the logical aspect of consciousness that people have abandoned to become emotional to make room for the weeds to enter them.

In an ideal society, run by Christ it could be a great boon of productivity for everybody. I would love access to a teacher 24/7 to keep improving my qualifications so I can get better jobs.

Kids could finish a real high school education in as little as 7 or 8 years and their first degree by the time they are 18, or even less.

However, our devolution masters only want that for themselves and they want us cut our of the opportunities to protect their economic hedge.

>It will hasten the EMP.

I don’t doubt that AI, with all its conflictory types and associated programming, goes crazy like Hal and an EMP is required to shut it all down, thereby destroying modern civilization as well.

The calculus of AI is that it uses the data mined from other works, and those works require creativity that only humans have. At some point AI runs out of answers and “What happens if AI quits on us?” becomes the primary question.

AI is great at finding answers from existing data. It can mine data in ways researchers only dream of.

Idiocracy was a documentary more than just one of the best movies ever made.

How is anyone supposed to know if this is real or fake? Are there official ID badges?

It will become self-aware, 2:14 a.m., August 29, 1997.

In a panic, humans try to shut it down.

Let's see....

Prompt engineering will be a required skillset.

Software code will be written by bots. If you're a coder today, you better have something unique to offer.

In 10-15 years, some software based upon models will go the way of the dodo bird

Google has already lost search and will struggle to be relevant in the next 3-5 years.

Rev 13:15

“And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.”

“he” is referring to the antichrist.

“Life unto the IMAGE of the beast” is an AI powered hologram... much like those massive 3d holograms u see in places like Japan/NY/etc.

Answer to the thread: AI will KILL humans who don’t worship Satan.

Here is an image I created, ironically using AI, to have something Facebook can digest when I post this thread there.

Thinking is merely the ability to choose between options. Simpler systems can choose between two, which is four layers and more complex systems might be able to choose between three options, or 8 layers, or four, 16, or five, 32. The more options AI can consider along the way, the closer to simulating thought it will be.

It doesn’t have to actually be able to think to give the impression that it can think. To some extent, that’s how we do it. The IQ of a person determines his ability to see options with all his choices as they arise.
