Another alligator was spotted along the Rio Grande River. This time, Texas officials encountered the 7 to 8-foot alligator during a training session on the river in Eagle Pass on Monday, May 20, according to a Facebook post from the Eagle Pass Fire Department.

The fire department stated the large alligator serves as a friendly reminder that the local wildlife isn't as friendly as the fire team. The department wrote, "Be cautious around the river banks."

During our training session in the Rio Grande River this morning, we came across a large alligator in the water. Just a friendly reminder that our local wildlife isn’t as friendly as we are and to be cautious around the river banks. 🐊

It wasn't the first time an alligator had been found in the Rio Grande River. An angler spotted a massive alligator while fishing along the Rio Grande River in Eagle Pass on April 28. Eagle Pass resident Luis De La Torre told MySA he believes the alligator to be about 8 to 10 feet long. He added he only saw one while out.

De La Torre said he spotted the alligator around 10 a.m. behind a neighborhood off Del Rio Boulevard in Eagle Pass, which borders the city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, which is to the southwest and across the Rio Grande. The fisherman said he lost sight of the gator but found him again after hearing him growl.

On the same day, Texas Governor Greg Abbott posted about the alligator sighting in a tweet on X (formally known as Twitter). He wrote, "Cross at your own risk." Abbott also said there are warning signs posted in some sectors of the Rio Grande Valley alerting would-be swimmers about the alligators.

In Texas, the American alligator ranges from the Sabine River of East Texas to the Gulf of Mexico across the coastal marshes to the Rio Grande and west to around Interstate 35, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The range includes about 120 counties with the highest concentrations along the Gulf Coastal Plains. The alligator is the only crocodilian native to Texas, according to TPWD.

The aligators are as moot as a moat.

These days, Biden flies them all into the country, at taxpayer expense of course

It wouldn’t surprise me if some patriots had a hand in these gator sightings.

Florida could donate a few thousand alligators to help augment border security.
Could probably throw in a few hundred giant pythons as well.

There’s some good-sized monster ones (14’-15’) in the Choke Canyon Reservoir near Three Rivers, TX. They’ve fattened up real good by munching on the wild hogs that come there to root and drink......
A few of those babies in the Rio Grande would definitely “solve the problem” and then some...real quick!

When the remote gator operation is humming, start another one with Electric Eels, then another with Sharks.

Might be good to have a blockbuster movie for the summer: “JAWs In The RIO GRANDE!!!”

If we ain’t gonna use alligators as a source for leather, then I think we should at least use them in the Rio Grande as deterrents.

I’d be happier if there were crocodiles and hippos in the river.
