Bing, Microsoft’s search engine, isn’t working properly right now. At first, we noticed it wasn’t possible to perform a web search at all. Now it seems search results are loading properly.
But this outage also appears to still be affecting Bing’s application programming interface (API), which means that other services that rely on Bing aren’t working properly.
For instance, DuckDuckGo and Ecosia, two alternative search engines that rely on Bing’s search results, aren’t returning any search results right now. Microsoft Copilot isn’t loading either. ChatGPT Plus subscribers, who have the ability to perform web searches, also get an error when they try to search for something too.
Once again, an outage proves the web depends on a handful of tech companies. If an API goes down, many services are affected.
In this particular case, it’s interesting to see the increasingly important role of Bing’s API. While Google still dominates when it comes to web search, many services are now reliant on Bing’s API.
Microsoft could not immediately be reached for comment on the outage.
So Duck Duck is brought to you by Bing Bing.
I despise Bing.

That’s bad bad.
So THAT’S why my DuckDuckGo search didn’t work! I couldn’t figger it out…
Yandex works fine too.
Maybe we shouldn’t depend on a bunch of anti-American foreigners in Mountain View and stick with real foreigners...in Russia, for example.
Funny that. Stick that in your Pichai...
Duck Duck Go always piggybacked off the search data from someone else. They’re just trying to provide a way to access that search data without passing along who is accessing it. Whether or not they are actually providing that privacy protection, I haven’t a clue.
I just rebooted…….back to normal.
Swisscows down with them.
Thx for clarification! Had long forgotten the details.
Oddly, my MS Office apps were doing some odd stuff this morning...
Yep, people thought they had something independent going on. This has been no secret. Might as well just use Google to begin with, it has better results even if they play games with those results and tracking is tracking and goes on no matter what we want.
That explains it...
I did a search this morning on DUCKDUCKGO and for the first time ever it came back nothing found. I did the same search on another browser and got the results I was looking for. I first thought the subject was being censored now I know it was just a technical glitch.
Oh my that’s Too Bad
And the “Technology Trap” tightens even more.
I despise how Copilot takes forever to print its results. I would prefer to old way where you immediately get an entire page of search results instead of now watching the Copilot print text, one letter at a time.
Microsoft as a company has really gone into the toilet ever since Gates gave up control. It is now run by third world Calcutta untouchables, and you can see the impact of that decision.
“So Duck Duck is brought to you by Bing Bing.”
People have been saying that DDG is ‘compromised’ - obviously that’s the case. Yandex works fine, but since it’s Russian, you won’t get the Deep-State ‘sanitized’ results, and that seems to upset some here.
The horror!!
