A New Jersey woman said she won more than $2 million on an Atlantic City slot machine — but the casino isn’t coughing up the dough, leaving the septuagenarian “very anxious” about being unable to help her homeless son.
Roney Beal, 72, claims she hit it big on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at Bally’s Casino in February, but when she went to collect her winnings, the casino claimed the jackpot was due to a technical glitch and therefore didn’t count, she told The Post Saturday.
“I just feel it’s not right that they don’t pay out,” Beal said.
“What’s the use in playing then?”
After losing $1,000 on various machines that day, Beal revisited the Wheel of Fortune slot machine.
When she gave it another six or seven spins, she said she hit the jackpot.
She said she eventually got the words “wild,” “wild x2” and spin on a diagonal on the slot area of the machine. This entitled her to a free spin on the Wheel of Fortune wheel on the top of the machine.
After spinning, the wheel ended up on the word “Jackpot” with a dollar sign — and she said she heard the words “You’ve won.”
Then, 3-D gold coins came out and a blue light went off, she said.
“And then the people behind me got up and they’re like, ‘oh my god, oh my god.’ This guy says, ‘lady you’re a millionaire. A millionaire,'” she said.
But when she used a call button to summon help, a tilt message popped up, indicating the machine was unplayable due to an error or malfunction.
A Bally’s employee told her she didn’t win before telling her to leave the casino.
Beal’s attorney, Mike Di Croce, said he is preparing a legal complaint against Bally’s and

Software Error is now casino for “we’re not paying/you didn’t win”.
I bet now they can force a winning machine to give an error when they want, when someone actually wins. Its actually been programmed in.
Exactly right on both accounts. Nothing to “tilt” and almost guaranteed they can program it to do anything they want.
Thats impossible. Every phone out there has a camera. No casino is prohibiting people from bringing cell phones onto casino floors
Earlier in the report it said the 72 year old was upset about the casino not paying off the jackpot she won.
OK. But then the report later says:
“After losing $1,000 on various machines that day, Beal revisited the Wheel of Fortune slot machine.”
So, she could have saved the $1,000 she wasted on a bunch of slot machines, and just given the money to her homeless son.
It says like an addicted gambler.
I went to a casino last summer in Idaho that had no human dealers at all. Everything was purely electronic.
Remarkably, I won enough to pay for our night’s stay.
(We were travelling back from the Grand Tetons visiting my youngest daughter who had a job as a Park ranger) It was a good trip!
So if someone hits the jack pot, all they have to say it was a technical glitch. OK, mobsters.
Anybody remember the story Pretty Maggie Moneyeyes, by Harlan Ellison?
“Some of these old games go way back.”
I just play lotto often to take away any desire to enter any casino.
I didn’t win because of a technical glitch. I expect full payment! 😡
That guy looks like a typical bastard.
I may be the only guy who got that joke here....
Yup-—the only real fun I’ve had at casino gambling was on cruise ships, and most of what I did there was play roulette, the only relaxing game (but also the one with the highest house advantage. There were ONE DOLLAR Chips available for that game, and probably others, like blackjack, which I refuse to play.
That is an EXCELLENT point, which just crossed my mind. No way to prove it one way or another. But how will courts see it. This lady needs a good lawyer. My guess is that it will be settled out of court.
“Ohhhhhh...it’s a PROFIT deal...!!!!”
don’t the casinos have spies\eyes in skies ? it should be on video somewhere.
As an aside, who comes up with a plan gambling at a casino, looking for a miracle, losing a thousand+ to help her homeless son?
slightly different take on it...

Is that what she was doing. I guess I didn't read far enough. Well, there are plenty of people who figure out ways to cheat in casinos, which is why they have eyes in the ceilings to watch for the know ways, and if something suspicious begins to happen, to watch perhaps a new method they had never seen before. I've heard that some people even deploy devices to steal from casinos.
But again, I try to never learn too much as the temptation might get the better of me. 🤣
I was playing this roulette game in New Orleans, and the thing kept paying off for me. A friend that was with me, came and sat down beside me, and then he reached over and cashed me out. I was furious. But then we went to another place and a gave back a couple hundred. I still walked out an $800+ dollar winner that day though. Went home & gave it to my wife. 🤣
“She’s dropping a grand per visit, and she’s worried about her “homeless son”?”
My wife’s and my first thought too.
F#cking crooks!
My mom and sister have
lived in Vegas for years.
My sister doesn’t gamble,
and my mom consistently
only brought $20 bucks
with her to gamble with.
She always had a
coffee can full of quarters
to play with. If she lost
the $20....time to go home.
In Pennsylvania, every slot machine is electronically hooked up and monitored in the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission’s office.
