“As a founding institution and sponsor of Benedictine College, the sisters of Mount St. Scholastica find it necessary to respond to the controversial remarks of Harrison Butker as commencement speaker,” the statement on their website said. “The sisters of Mount St. Scholastica do not believe that Harrison Butker’s comments in his 2024 Benedictine College commencement address represent the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college that our founders envisioned and in which we have been so invested.”
Currently, the sisters of Mount St. Scholastica contain more than 80 women “devoted to a communal life of prayer, work and hospitality,” according to their website.
“Instead of promoting unity in our church, our nation, and the world, his comments seem to have fostered division. One of our concerns was the assertion that being a homemaker is the highest calling for a woman. We sisters have dedicated our lives to God and God’s people, including the many women whom we have taught and influenced during the past 160 years. These women have made a tremendous difference in the world in their roles as wives and mothers and through their God-given gifts in leadership, scholarship, and their careers.”
Seven Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica arrived in Atchison, Kansas in 1863 and founded St. Scholastica Academy (now Maur Hill–Mount Academy) for local young women. Mount St. Scholastica’s Junior College was opened in 1924 so that young women could further their education and a senior college was opened in 1932 for women to obtain bachelor’s degrees.

The born-again Christian in me thinks it’s dangerous to tell people life “begins” when you become a parent or get that job promotion — it begins when you meet and fully surrender your life to Jesus full stop.
Well I shudda known better.
Last evening I had a discussion with left-the-faith adult daughter, who is by no means a woke feminist, but who excoriated Butker’s speech. Among other things, I pointed out to her that he was speaking to a college that is not only Catholic but Benedictine, and that AFAIK the Benedictines have not gone the way of the Jesuits, so the graduates in general and the female graduates in particular already bought into the traditional Catholic view on these issues when they matriculated, much less spent four years there. So of course there has to be a herd of heretics, lovers of Francis rather than lovers of God, to prove me wrong.
The h*ll with it. This LCMS Lutheran found very little in the address that he disagreed with, and nothing that should keep him from expressing his own views outside of his position as an NFL player for a supposedly Catholic audience. But none of that matters anymore in our neo-Stalinist society. Lord Jesus, if you want us to become martyrs, give us the grace to follow You and be faithful unto death, so that we may receive the crown of life.
They should take a vow of silence or something....................
These gullible losers seem to have bought into the same media propaganda and misrepresentations about Butker's commencement address.
He didn't just speak to the women. He had a whole separate set of comments that he addressed to the MEN among the graduates.
Religious sisters ARE exercising their motherly instincts! How absurd. One can physically but also spiritually be a mother. Same for fathers.
Long before now many religious orders fully embraced the world and all it’s shiny trinkets of amoral delusions. Sadly I think women religious are more likely to fall into this trap.
You can be sure their corruption runs deep. Having embraced the world, the flesh and the devil are easily within their grasp.
What a bunch of vile nuns.
“Instead of promoting unity in our church, our nation, and the world, his comments seem to have fostered division..”
Unlike Our Lord Jesus Christ who never uttered a divisive word.
I don’t mean to generalize, but like so many other groups of women led by other women, they have bought into the liberal, marxist philosophy with the intolerance for differing views that goes with it.
The fact that this is a group of Nuns, vs self identifiying Social Warriors doesn’t matter anymore. They can be one and the same. God takes a distant back seat to One Worldism and Maya.
On their website there is a picture of all of the "nuns" together where if you didn't know any better could have all been a group picture or their trip to Atlantic City.
There will never be any ‘unity’ between Christ and Satan. If they can’t understand that, they are not Christian.
(B) Just like a lot of (other) feminists, they have completely misread and misunderstood what he actually said. It is purely an emotional response without reference to the facts which is entirely unbefitting a woman of God, especially a consecrated one.
Lighten up ladies.
As an alum of MSSC, I must express my didain for this decree from the sisters at the Mount. I’m not surprised at the wokeness; it hasn’t changed nor mellowed in almost 60 years. Except for their obtuse acceptance of everything left-leaning, the women who taught me were well-educated in their subject matter, knew how to transfer their knowledge and gave me the tools to become a self-sufficient person and a striver to be the best.
Like Harrison Butker, I love the Latin Mass; this is one of the great gifts I received at the feet of those women who provided a Schola for me to sing in while celebrating our most sacred prayer on a daily basis. May the good Lord have mercy on them. They know not what they do.
The anti-faith media will eat this up.
If this group of Nuns actually believed and practiced the Catechism, Frankie would have shut them down by now.
Watch this! More LAWLESS NUNS! https://youtu.be/4E-Lc5e16_E?feature=shared
LOL Right...
Brilliant!
What do you expect from the whore of Babylon? Nothing but a bunch of false prophets.
