A ten-year-old boy took his own life after suffering horrific bullying at school, with his family saying he had warned officials 20 times about the ongoing abuse.
Sammy Teusch, from Greenfield, Indiana, died by suicide on May 5 and according to his family, was being bullied up until the night he passed away.
His parents Sam and Nichole say he was both physically and emotionally bullied at school, with Sammy being recently beaten up on a school bus.
The bullying started last year when he was in elementary school, and followed him to Greenfield Intermediate School.
According to the family, Sammy told teachers and other staff about the bullying 20 times.
His father Sam told WTHR: 'They were making fun of him for his glasses in the beginning, then on to make fun of his teeth. It went on for a long time.'
'I held him in my arms. I did the thing no father should ever have to do, and anytime I close my eyes, it's all I can see.
The abuse then got physical, Sam added: 'He was beat up on the school bus, and the kids broke his glasses and everything.
'I called the school, and I'm like, 'What are you doing about this? It keeps getting worse, and worse, and worse. And it's not getting any better. In fact, it's getting worse.'
Speaking to 21alive, his grandmother Cynthia said: 'They can’t just say they have zero tolerance because that doesn’t mean there is zero tolerance about bullies.
'Their zero tolerance means that they don’t have responsibility for it. People trust their kids to the school, but now that trust is breaking down.'

Before WW 2, my dad was a German fluent, English speaker in Norwegian ND/Minnesota. One day after school a few boys tied him to a tree and beat him with a whip for being a Kraut.
My Dad paid them back, then took off for CA riding the rails to the recruiting office.
This is not a movie.
I was badly bullied as a child, beaten, had students set my clothes on fire. We were poor and wore bad clothes, we ate beans three meals a week and I must admit I farted a lot. that made me a good target. What did I do? Learned to tell jokes. When people are laughing they rarely pound you much. When your the class clown kids let things slide because they like your funny bits.
It was a survival tactic, and it worked to a point.
Exactly. Private or homeschool. I know a single working mom who did it by coordinating with other moms and taking night shifts. It can be done. Such a sad and needless tragedy 😞
I never understood parents who continue to send their bullied children to school.
The education the children get in school is hardly worth putting a child through such torment. You’d have to work hard to do worse at home.

Yeah this was a pathetic excuse for a father who failed his most basic task as a father, protect his children.

What you had to go through as a young child breaks my heart. You did very well overcoming the human meanness targeted at you. Very impressive. Your sense of survival, backbone, intelligence and ethics are praiseworthy.
There was a time when though it meant less money for many things, mom’s stayed home to take care of the kids and be there for them.
For four years after after WWII, when my Air Force dad was assigned overseas or where there was no housing for us, my mom was essentially a “single mom”, in an “affordable” home sixty miles from anyone in her family, with six little kids - the youngest from 1-4 and the oldest from 7-11. She did not work as taking care of us and our home was more than enough for her to manage. I think there were many WWII and post-WWII mom’s like her. At the time my dad’s Warrant Officer Air Force pay was all of $334 a month. We did not know we were poor. Us six older kids remember that period very fondly. We how that feeling to our mom, for how she handled everything.

Not really. Back when mothers could stay home with kids was pre-feminist movement. Men’s jobs easily supported a middle-class family. Once feminism reared its head, that stopped. Employers were free to pay men less because their wives were bringing home part of the bacon.
Plus it doubled the available supply of labor. And Economics 101 states that increased supply means lower costs.
Bless her, she sounds like a wonderful mother! My mom and my husband’s mom were homemakers and I was too, plus we homeschooled our kids (they are grown now). Hubby and I had to tighten our belts quite a bit (fixing things ourselves, cooking from scratch on a budget, driving old cars, small house, etc) to make it happen but it was one of the greatest choices we made. It got a bit easier financially when the kids were older but I also don’t think they ever knew we struggled early on😁

Same for our family, as Dad didn’t “go to work” like most fathers. He didn’t make much — country preacher was primary, and then he was a substitute school bus driver. Neither paid well. But Mom was home all the time and “managed things”.
My post pertained to the overall change in our civilization. Rush had a way of explaining this much better than I can.
My mom and dad’s separate experinces during that period made my mom the money manager 100 times more than my dad. She could “pinch pennies” far far better than anyone else, and made sure the family budget did that, while my dad would spend the last pennies in his pocket to buy his kids something. When we were older we had not yet understood that completely and a brother, a sistet and I were asking our mom wasn’t dad the one who wanted to spend less. She laughed and said “you’re dad would go into debt for you kids at Christmas if I let him”. I think that whole dynamic started from when he was away so much. When he was finally back with his family for awhile, spending on this kids was his way of trying to make up for lost time. As I said we didn’t understand that when we were kids, in part because dad did not easily give away his feelings, not that you could read, unless he was really mad about something. I think that too came from his military experience - you just do your duty, your feelings about anything don’t matter. I talk too much.

You can not run. The "adult" will pretend not to see. And your tormenters are protected by the backs of the seats.
