In a stunning admission, Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team is admitting that key evidence in former President Donald Trump’s classified documents criminal case was altered or manipulated since it was seized by the FBI, and that prosecutors misled the court about it for a period of time.

In a new filing Friday, Smith’s team said that the order of documents in some of the boxes of memos that were seized by the FBI from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was altered or jumbled, leaving two different chronologies: one that was digitally scanned and another the physical order in the boxes.

We need judicial reform. And part of that needs to be lack of immunity for people within the law enforcement/justice system. If you’re “a Good Guy” but you play dirty, your prison term should be a long one. Judges, DAs, FBI — everybody. Enjoy your felony conviction and your new roommate Bubba.

Caution: this might be used to try and get a mistrial so Smith can get a new trial in a court willing to overlook tampering of evidence.

Why now? Do they see a better outcome politically if the case is dismissed?

Why now? Do they see a better outcome politically if the case is dismissed? From their point of view a mistrial might end it. Withdrawing the charges might allow Smith to refile with a more convincing fabrication of evidence.

I’d be shooting for dismissal based on prosecutorial misconduct.
To: IncPen
I’m not a lawyer but how do you have a mistrial without a trial being started? I’m sure the government can make a motion to dismiss the charges. Would be great if judge dismissed with prejudice.
