MOUNT HOREB, WI -- The Wisconsin Department of Justice on Saturday provided an update to the incident in Mount Horeb Wednesday.
In a statement, the Wisconsin DOJ said around 11:11 a.m., a citizen called 911 after seeing a person moving toward Mount Horeb Middle School with a backpack and what appeared to be a long gun.
Officers directed the person to drop the weapon, but the person did not comply. The DOJ said when the suspect pointed the weapon at the officers, the officers fired, hitting the suspect. Despite lifesaving measures, the subject died on scene.
The DOJ said the weapon recovered on the scene was a Ruger .177 pellet rifle.
No law enforcement personnel or witnesses were physically injured in the incident.
Involved law enforcement remain on administrative leave, per agency policy.
The involved officers were wearing body cameras during the incident.
Will wait for results of an impartial imvestiation.

Sounds like “Suicide by cop” to me as well.
Which probably included "grooming" from identified organizations and persons supported by indirect Federal funding.
Good thinking. This happened on Wednesday, and:
... The involved officers were wearing body cameras during the incident...
We shall see.
Legal silencers are made for the most powerful air guns.
A colleague from years-back was Jess Galan, who wrote frequent articles on them.
That is, the “late” Jess Galan...
Yes, on many of these when we see the video we see that the suspect didn’t have time to comply or was confused by the instructions being shouted, often by multiple cops.
Next, we did not see on the description that the suspect pointed his rifle at the cops, which would be an indicator of suicide by cop.
My mistake, the description of the incident did say he pointed the gun at officers. I’d still like to see the video
He could have shot his eye out.
Classic FA-FO ending.
Pellet guns (soft lead projectile) are rifled. BB guns (hard round steel projectile) are smooth bore. Soft lead engages with the rifling, hard steel does not.
Or point it at cops.🙄
Do you find it somehow VERY ODD, as do I, that these perps use of prescribed psychotropic drugs is NEVER spoken of in the aftermath of these shooting “incidents?”
IIRC, just about EVERY “mass shooter” in recent years has been on those mind-altering drugs!
Could it be that the Powers That Be do not want us to take a hard look at prescription mind-altering drugs?
Is there big money involved?
Just asking for a FRiend.
Play stupid games…win stupid prizes.
We were carrying pocket knives in school in the 70s and 80s. And driving to high school in the 80s with shotguns in the cab.
Yep, I think you have nailed it.
Little town seems to have some issues....

MOUNT HOREB, Wis. -
A Mount Horeb police officer arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a child in Madison has resigned, according to the Mount Horeb police department.
Dennis P. Jenks, 44, told police he tried to confirm the age of the 14-year-old boy he admits to having sexual contact with, according to a criminal complaint. Madison police arrested Jenks at his home in the 6600 block of Raymond Road on Madison’s far west side Feb. 13.
Jenks was on unpaid suspension during the investigation. He was a lieutenant and had been with the department since 2000.
The criminal complaint states that the 14-year-old boy told investigators he met Jenks on an online chat website and they met for the first time in September 2012. He said he moved in with Jenks in October and stayed until the day Jenks was arrested.
Jenks told an investigator when he questioned the boy about his age the boy said he was 18. Jenks said he attempted, through various means, to confirm the boy’s age but was unable to do so. The boy admitted to police he used a false name, according to the criminal complaint.
The boy told police he remembered Jenks telling him he was not trying to be rude with regard to his age, but that he could lose his job.
Jenks is free on a signature bond. He is subject to bail monitoring and was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
The 14-year-old boy is also involved in a sexual assault case involving a Middleton man. The former church music director has been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child.
