According to whom?

San Francisco?

Or anywhere in California.

The list is nonsense, unless stepping over fecal matter and driving by homeless encampments is exciting.

West coast - Completely out of the running.

East Coast - Maryland on north no way, except maybe Vermont.

I can pick and choose the rest but that covers the major areas.

Probably from all the million+ homes out south. I’m in PV and all the McMansions being built to replace the post war homes are doing the same thing. My property taxes are through the roof and I’m in an old house.

Pretty much all smaller cities except for 3 of them.

All these sorts of listen rankings depend on the criteria people are using to make their judgments.

If the criteria included fecal matter and homeless encampments, these sorts of rankings would be very very different

You don’t say. How did you figure that out, Captain Obvious?

The town I lived in previously was 1,000 people. It was in a county with one stop light - that was located in the county seat 12 miles away - a town with a population of around 4,000.

The county also had a presidential birthplace and library and was on a major East-West interstate highway.

I regret moving, but not much. This place is closer to more of life’s necessities and a few more variety in dining and shopping. That said, it’s 15 minutes from the 3rd largest city in the state and 15 minutes from the smaller city of 20,000 where I graduated High School 50 years ago. I’m on a circle drive street where nobody comes through here except if they have a reason to. Quiet and peaceful.

>> It’s an awful place. Please do not come here.

Plus it has a silly name, right? I’d cringe every time I wrote Damariscotta in the return address of my Christmas card.
Just trying to help. 😉

Wherever these places are, with the turd-world being deliberately flooded into the western world...it’ll all be a turd-world in short order.

If Jersey City (NJ) and Clifton (NJ) are on this list, then their criteria are idiotic. I wouldn’t let my dog spend a night in either place.

Here's a good rule of thumb:

Don't live within 100 miles of a city with a major league professional sports franchise (MLB, NFL, NBA or NHL).

One of the (if not the) worst aspects of the 2024 version of the Internet is the deluge of "Best" lists. They're everywhere. You name a topic and someone has a "Best" list of it, including lists of the best "Best of" lists. It's absurd!

Even the best of them are little better than click-bait with precious little actionable "fact," but the simple fact of their proliferation is a clear indication of how many undiscerning Netizens are getting sucked in to them.

I saw one last week with the headline, "The 85 best Rock bands of the 1980s." I was well into adulthood before the 1980s began and I doubt I could compile a list of 85 bands that originated in that era, good, bad or indifferent.

And NO, I didn't click it to see. I am not infected with the pandemic FOMA* disease.

*FOMA: fear of missing out
