I’m glad he’s in.
He has several iconic songs that are still amazing nearly 50 years later.
I can’t find out who he wants to perform with? I keep re-reading this article and don’t find it. Who?
I skimmed it looking
Can’t the poster of such an article tell us
Sheryl Crow
Sheryl Crow
“I can’t find out who he wants to perform with? I keep re-reading this article and don’t find it. Who?”
It’s there
“I’m thinking about people to invite to play with me and all that kind of stuff he says,” noting that number one on the list will be Sheryl Crow, who “championed” Frampton by including him in her induction performance last year in Brooklyn.
In the penultimate paragraph, he says number one on his list will be Sheryl Crow(?).
One album with one song that got radio play shouldn’t be a reason to put the guy in the rock n roll hall of fame. He’s not known for anything else.
There are dozens of groups and individuals who deserve to be inducted, but haven’t been. Just a partial list from my rock youth:
America
Bachman-Turner Overdrive
Blood, Sweat, & Tears
Joe Cocker
Grand Funk Railroad
The Guess Who
Iron Butterfly
Jethro Tull
The Amboy Dukes/Ted Nugent
Steppenwolf
Three Dog Night
Steve Miller. He said they induct you if you let them shake you down for thousands of dollars. He told them to F*** off.
Dave Matthews Band’s fans trying to force an induction is the real joke. Two crap hit songs that nobody remembers or cares about now? It’s too bad it’s not like baseball where you get a few chance to get in before becoming ineligible.
Geez... I would have thought any of those would be in before Frampton
Just as The Sex Pistols and Nirvana launched scores of other bands with one album, after Frampton Comes Alive EVERYBODY had to have a double live album in their catalog.
Also, it’s a solid album, and hardly a one-hit wonder.
Beyond that wake, Frampton inspired a flotilla of guitarists. And we are skipping Humble Pie and playing for Bowie.
He’s more deserving than a goodly number of existing members.
That John Mayall just now got inducted in the HOF shows what a sham and hoax and insult the R&R HOF is. Just pathetic.
America - sound like every other band in the genre.
Bachman-Turner Overdrive - legit nominee
Blood, Sweat, & Tears - legit nominee
Joe Cocker - who’d he influence?
Grand Funk Railroad - legit nominee
The Guess Who - popular but influential?
Iron Butterfly - I love them but they’re one song
Jethro Tull - legit nominee
The Amboy Dukes/Ted Nugent - not as influential as Frampton but a contender.
Steppenwolf - two songs
Three Dog Night - super popular but influential?
None of these omissions are as criminal as Iron Maiden.
I’ve loved Frampton since his Humble Pie days. “Rockin’ The Filmore” is one of my favorite pieces of classic vinyl. Kudos to Pete for a great honor.
The fact that there are a number of Rap and Hip Hop “artists” inducted there tells the tale of what a joke the R&R HOF is.
I agree to some extent.
Steve Marriott is one of my favorites.
Hard to comment on this on my phone at metal bar at moment, but Iron Maiden and several others you mention are legitimate, even some you didn’t agree with. I’ll be seeing Maiden in September.
