No, body building involves enhancing a function that is already there - the ‘stuff’ required to do it is there; so it’s a gain (or increase) OF function.

I’m tired of this now. Find someone else to convince that the term is a misnomer.

Not a misnomer. Just the same terminology for the same thing. Gain of function is the same as gain a function. You started the argument with trying to correct me on the terminology, so, it's good that you're giving up. Ta-ta!
