@RepThomasMassie
There’s a bipartisan effort in Congress to equate criticism of the secular state of Israel to violence toward Jewish people in America.
The latter is illegal and the former is protected speech, but if a false equivalency is established, it will be forbidden to criticize Israel.

Just say no. Jews are not above criticism. We have plenty of laws to charge people with unlawfulness. ‘Hate crime’ laws are antithetical to Liberty and dangerous.
So the Jews aren’t Jews?
“Hate crime’ laws are antithetical to Liberty and dangerous.”
Regardless, they exist. You are allowed to criticize Jews. You are not allowed to criticize Muslims or trannies or LGB people.
But don’t dare criticize Hamas and Gaza.
I think this is what he is referring to:
“April 11, 2024
Press Release
Earlier today, Congressman Anthony D’Esposito introduced the Define to Defeat Act. If passed, this act would apply the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism to the enforcement of civil rights laws.”
https://desposito.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-desposito-introduces-define-defeat-act-bringing-clarity-legal
The working definition of antisemitism:
“According to the definition, anti-Semitism “is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews,” and that anti-Semitism could take physical or rhetorical form and be directed at Jews as well as non-Jews, in addition to property and institutions.
The document lists 11 ways that anti-Semitism could take shape. They include calling for Jews to be killed, advancing enduring Jewish stereotypes about conspiracy and control, blaming Jews as a group for the actions of individuals or various forms of denying the Holocaust.
Six of the 11 examples have to do principally with certain kinds of rhetoric around Israel. They include:
Accusing Jews of being more loyal to Israel or to a global Jewish agenda than to their home countries.
Denying Jews the right to self-determination or calling Israel a “racist endeavor.”
Applying a double standard to Israel that isn’t applied to other countries.
Applying classic anti-Semitic smears, like the blood libel, to Israel.
Comparing Israel to the Nazis.
Holding Jews collectively responsible for Israel’s actions.
The definition says anti-Semitism “frequently charges Jews with conspiring to harm humanity, and it is often used to blame Jews for ‘why things go wrong.’”

So Massie is basically right it would outlaw any criticism of Jews and Israel that falls outside whatever politically correct standards they create. It definitely goes against the First Amendment. It’s another hate crime law except this one is exclusively for Jews.
The Jews are Jews.
The non-Jews are not Jews.
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances
Either you’re free to speak or you’re not. River to the Sea....ummmm..ok.are those 4 words joined together now illegal to say? What if I want want to have sex with every woman from the river to the sea? Illegal? Is it only illegal in the context of not wanting Israel to be a state? Is not wanting Israel to be a state illegal? How many states can I wish didnt exist? If I hope Russia is no longer a state am I calling for the worldwide annihilation of all Russians? If I want Ukraine to be over taken by Russia is that an illegal call to Genocide? Sorry. I will not allow any group of peoppe, whether I love them or hate them dictate what can and cannot be said. It’s pathetic when done on the right and on the left and neither side seems to be able to identify the problem when it’s something they oppose.
We executed Julius Streicher after the war solely for publishing "Der Stürmer".
Wiki has a lengthy section on Massie's voting record and statements in Congress.
He appears to be a committed Libertarian, voting to remove USA sanctions and favoritism towards a wide range of countries.
Wiki lists four times that he has voted on or spoken about Israel.
Based on the Wiki list, Massie is clearly uncomfortable with USA assistance to Israel and with sanctions against Iran.
My opinions about Massie are based on the limited excerpts in Wiki.
I will have to do more reading to get a full picture.
Also - I am no friend to Libertarians on the immigration issue. Massie has voted NO on two bills that would have increased security on our border and made it simpler to expel illegals.
This is what Massie is afraid of?
“Hate speech is free speech.”
Yes, it is.
I’m Jewish. If I wanted to be a citizen of Israel, I can be despite not having any relatives there for 2,000 years.
I do not consent to having my First Amendment rights stripped because of Israel.
Your ‘rights’ will be stripped because you can be identified as a Jew. No place for you and your descendants except the Land of Israel. Don’t be a fool.
I’m seeing young punks creating riots and fighting the police.
I am sooo weary seeing you guns creating havoc and they don’t have any idea about life yet.
To let them do what I see, is uncalled for.. Unnecessary
I raised 4 sons.. I am a mom.. All 4 of them are bigger and stronger than I.. But I carry the known name of seniority status.
Not a one of mine would go to a college and do what I see. What do we have in the youth today! I see head gear that is not American.. They would be on the next plane for back home.. That is, if gunfire didn’t persuade them.
Don’t mess around with them.. They will outlast you till you reach your last end. If they are being encouraged to riot, from the classroom.. Do the same.
Grow some spine.. You adults are supposed to be in control.
I never cared one way or the other about Jews, and I certainly do not support muslims in any way, but this exercise of power from certain quarters is really interesting to watch and make note of.
There are no exceptions in the 1st Amendment for either groups. The 1A doesn’t recognize hate speech.
You must have missed the police being sent to colleges to break up the pro-Gaza protests in the last couple of days.
If you are for Hamas, please speak up. I would want to know that.
A lot of people who signed DOI (A lot of hate in that depending on your perspective) went on to promote/ratify the Bill of Rights in States and under the Federal government.
Who should be given the power to determine criticism from “hate”? That power to determine *will be easy to abuse. We already have laws for assault, one should not blur the lines further.
