My first car was a 1960 Dodge Dart (aka the Batmobile) with a push button transmission. And yes, you could see paradise by the dashboard light.

3. Edsel tele-touch (button operated) transmission

Chrysler used push button A/T until the mid 60s-on the dash board. Even the last built Dodge Grand Caravans had the shifter on the dash.

“Here’s that mirrored speedometer in a 1960 Buick:”

That’s it!

Same car as well but ours was white with red interior - The Ms. Oregon pagent tracked my father down to get it into the parade.

“Ha ha—some things you never forget!”

You better believe it!

She came with a ‘Matron’ who incessantly tapped me on the shoulder:

“Slow down!’

“Slower!”

“Don’t stop here!”

“SLOWER!!!!”

Then I said a few inappropriate words to the pair of them and blipped the throttle causing MA ‘74 to rock forward & back momentarily on her perch (sitting on the back of the seat).

The matron became silent.

My buddy, Pete who was riding with us in the front seat laughed heartily!

Yep, that generation of Riviera is an absolute masterpiece. The YouTube channel guy considers it the most beautiful GM of the sixties and perhaps ever. Here he is giving a detailed walkthrough of his personal low mileage (~40k miles) all original ‘67 Riviera. He actually has several videos dedicated to the 66/67 model.

LOL that was our first beater car (We had a field to learn how to drive in- but also took it through the woods through goat paths lol)- but it didn’t have the push buttons

Had a ton of fun with that car- learned to control slides, and burnouts- and learned how to drive in snow, out in the field where it was safe to learn-

Electric cigarette lighters. My old 1969 Cadillac had at least four each with an ashtray. However, the remnants of the cigarette lighter are still there in many modern cars as a 12 volt power port.

It is interesting that built in GPS maybe disappearing replaced by cellphones which can display their GPS navigation and other features on the vehicles main screen. The advantage is the cellphone map data is constantly being updated where vehicle navigation systems often needed dealer installed updates.

I worked for a guy who owned some classic Corvette’s and Jaguar’s. His daily driver was a Pacer. He loved the utility of it.

Interestingly, GMC went back to a pushbutton shifter in the 2018 Terrain:

XK8 ... loved mine but those plastic tensioners cost me thousands.

I know the following are not gone yet ... but might as well be. Many would be special order now and the dealer would look at you funny.

Clutch pedals and drivers that know how to use them.
Pickups with 8-foot beds.
Vents that can be closed independently.
Locking hubs on 4WD vehicles.
Cup holders in convenient locations (I was in a new Raptor last night where the cup holder was center console but 6 inches behind my shoulder.)
