Climate hustlers have yet another moneymaking boondoggle lined up.
I’ve been hearing a lot of commercials on my favorite local conservative radio station from BP about their Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects (CCUS for “underground” storage), so my natural curiosity got aroused and decided to investigate it.
The World Economic Forum reports: “While such technologies have been commercially available for decades, only 30 CCUS projects are currently in operation across the globe, according to the Global CCS Institute. Another 11 are in construction and 153 are in development (in 2022 alone, 61 new CCUS projects were initiated).”
What is CCS/CCUS? For now, these systems primarily operate on industries that emit CO2 as a byproduct of their operations. Per BP “CO2 is captured from various sources -- either before it escapes into the atmosphere or directly from the air. The captured CO2 is compressed or liquefied and then transported, usually by pipeline. The CO2 is then safely stored permanently and securely thousands of feet underground -- this process is often called “sequestration.””
Simple, right? Almost like that “clean” electricity that comes out of your wall plug to power those “clean” EV’s doesn’t come from coal or natural gas. Just don’t look behind the curtain and you’ll maintain your delusion of living in the magical land of Oz.
Let’s break down CCS:
CO2 is a gas (but you knew that), and makes up about 0.04% of the earth’s atmosphere. Oxygen comprises around 21%, with nitrogen, argon, and other random gasses making up most of the other 78%.
How do you “capture” CO2? Well, it’s not as easy as capturing the neighbor’s dog that got loose. One technique, called adsorption or absorption, “The emissions are piped into a device called an absorber, where the carbon dioxide interacts with chemical solvents

Industries where leftist supporters get paid for accomplishing nothing except campaign donations to democRATs. More than carbon capture it is a machine to launder money back to democRAT politicians.
The Canadian boreal forest captures more CO2 than Canada emits. We have 3-4x the trees globally that we had 100 years ago.
This is among the stupidest ideas on the table. Just plant grass or trees! OMG!!!!
I've probably done more to reduce CO2 than any of those numb nuts have.
We have a carbon capture device on our property. Matter of fact, we have thousands of them.
20+ acres of trees.
where the carbon dioxide interacts with chemical solvents

Never a mention of the environmental harm of the solvents. Might the solventws be more harmful than the not pollutant CO2? And, of course even if we treat CO2 like a poison, China and India are building coal plants like crazy! The real purpose of this is the de-industrialization of the West.
This has to be a scam. Just follow the money to see who benefits.
“I’ve probably done more to reduce CO2 than any of those numb nuts have.”
you have ...
carbon “capture” schemes release multiple times MORE carbon into the atmosphere than they capture: the “capture” itself takes a YUGE amount of energy, the compression takes another YUGER amount of energy, finally, pipeline transport of the compressed gas and the injection takes even MORE energy ... the whole notion is completely insane ...
>I’ve probably done more to reduce CO2 than any of those numb nuts have.
Exactly. People have been planting trees like crazy since the 1930s, but the real unmentioned bloom in CO2 is that as the oceans get warmer, they’re less apt to absorb CO2. Plus, we’ve had a massive volcanic explosion in the Pacific that spewed millions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. No mention.
I have come up with a way to make trees absorb CO2 and emit Oxygen. I wonder if I could get the Greeniacs to fund my program to “Save the Planet?
Climate Changers must acquire some way to stop these massive volcanoes from erupting. There have been two massive eruptions in Indonesia that no one is reporting over the past three weeks. Science reports state that they pumped billions of tons of ash and vapor into the second level of the upper atmosphere that will encircle the earth for years before it falls to earth.
Recent scientists report that ancient carbon rocks release as much carbon gas as volcanoes. Seems the public is being hustled............
Carbon is the atom of life. It is rare, except at Earth's surface, concentrated to 0.025% by billions of years of fledgling life. And oxygen is a bit important to the animal kingdom, which get all their energy from chemically burning it.

If you google 45q you will find the link below which lays out the money from your pocket and mine to benefit any business willing to go after it. That is unless “We the People” oppose allowing private business to come into a State and dictate the construction of the pipeline. That is precisely what is going on right now in Iowa, SD, ND, NE, and I believe MN.
It is a Government scam of the first order and big money is the prize. Science has nothing to do with it.

I would also add a follow on, by looking up GEVO, a private company wanting to be involved in the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) industry. As is we haven’t had sustainable aviation fuel for the last one hundred 25 years of aviation history.
SAF is also part of the scam, because the Sequestration pipeline is critical to GEVO receiving the construction bucks for the plant they want to build to produce fuel for aviation that will be at least four times more expensive then the fossil fuel variety now in use.
There is at present no approved SAF fuel for commercial aviation and never should be due for no other reason than the expense and attempt to replace what is now used for the money offered by government in behalf of “We the People” who should disagree vehemently.
Ok I think I misspoke with the 125 years of aviation history. The math from 1903 to today might be closer to 121 years.
