Wow. Do we have dedicated trucks like that to drop smoke on that level?

I have never seen anything like that. And it shuts down all drones and infrared guided missiles. That is amazing.

I care. From day one it was obvious Russia would complete their goals- the Western war cheerleaders lied and omitted facts time and time again, …
Flush that $$$ 60 billion down the Ukie toilet- again.

History is being made- US hegemony is dead, and the world knows it.

Ukraine ping

This is a 1 sq mile village, pop 800, Russia took near the beginning of the invasion and lost. For comparison, what Russia hasn’t managed in two years with this hamlet, Germany completed with respect to France, Belgium and Holland in 6 weeks, in a campaign where, unlike Russia, which has more equipment and men, Germany had rough hardware and manpower parity with its opponents.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilohorivka,_Luhansk_Oblast
[According to the Governor of Luhansk Oblast Serhiy Haidai, a school in Bilohorivka was bombed by a Russian airstrike on 7 May 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where up to 60 people died, although only 2 were confirmed.[12][13] On 12 May 2022, a Russian battalion tactical group attempted to establish pontoon bridges to cross the Siverskyi Donets River. They were destroyed by Ukrainian forces, with great losses of life and equipment in the ensuing Battle of the Siverskyi Donets.[14][15][16][17][18] At the end of the battle of Lysychansk, Russia claimed to have captured Bilohorivka along with the rest of Luhansk Oblast.[19]

On 19 September 2022, it was confirmed that Ukrainian forces had regained full control over the settlement.[20] On 20 September 2022, Serhii Haidai, the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said that “Bilohorivka was Ukraine’s last stronghold in Luhansk Oblast. It was the area of constant heavy fighting. Our defenders have squeezed the invaders out and are in full control of the town. However, it is still under artillery fire. The town no longer exists because the invaders razed it to the ground.”[21]]

And this is before Ukraine’s air force is revived with a fresh supply of Western fighter planes that will make the lives of Russian CAS pilots much more complicated. In the past few months, Russian advances have been fueled by Russian JDAM clones dropped on Ukrainian positions. While costly in terms of airframes lost, they provided Russian ground forces with the momentum to make small advances. That momentum is about to go in reverse, as fresh Ukrainian jet fighters start returning the gesture.

We are big on the smoke capabilities.

Here is a hint that smoke units go way back.

388TH CHEMICAL COMPANY
Constituted 13 October 1942 in the Army of the United States as the 168th Chemical Smoke Generator Company and activated at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts
Inactivated 10 April 1946 at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland
Redesignated 20 December 1948 as the 388th Chemical Smoke Generator Company and allotted to the Organized Reserve Corps

Yes

We have the capability to generate big smoke screens. We had/have wheeled and tracked smoke generating dedicated systems. We can also deliver smoke via tube artillery and mortars. I am unsure about rocket artillery.

It makes sense to use in the offense since it allows you to close with the enemy by minimizing the distance at which you can be observed, tracked, engaged... Anything where the distance of observation is reduced visually/acoustically favors the offense, even natural fog, rain (assuming it doesn’t restrict mobility), etc. That’s basic knowledge sort of stuff.

I doubt this is something new for the Russians. As stated it’s basic knowledge that every SGT and LT should know. But, it’s something that you can now make a video and wow an audience with.

if you go on youtube you can find video of all militaries, including years old videos of the Russians using smoke dispersal vehicles in exercises.

This is old, old, old stuff and was common in WWII and since.

The Russian lucked out, re Avdiivka - a weather overcast frustrated Ukraine drones and Ukraine anti-air response.

So Russian aircraft were more able to deliver ordnance.

Now, Russia supplies the overcast.

The way it was explained by an experienced tank commander is that Russia doesn't have the luxury of massing tanks, diesel, men, artillery, etc. in order to conduct a massive offensive.

Massing men, machinery, or supplies in one place opens them up to attack by drones. Because of that, both the Russians and Ukrainians are relying on attacks by small groups of men and machines taking small areas of land at a time with a premium on transportation hubs and high ground.

There is also the problem with muddy ground that will soon dry up. A massive offensive might be waiting for the ground to harden in summer.

In any case, the Ukrainians offensive only took a few square kilometers of land. The current slow Russian advance has retaken that land and much more.

Both sides claim that the other side is suffering more casualties from this slow war of attrition. Regardless, even with the $61 Billion and the threat of French troops on the ground, the numbers are all in Russia's favor. They continue to out-manufacture and out-man the Ukrainians.

The angels might be on the side of the Ukrainians, but GDP and demography are on the side of the Russians.

I heard that the Russians also had a map which showed an old tunnel that ran under the town. They were able to sneak some troops through the tunnel and takeover a major Ukrainian outpost on top of a hill overlooking Avdiivka. From there they were able to provide cover fire for their other troops attacking the city.

Flush that $$$ 60 billion down the Ukie toilet- again.

Peskov said it will continue to enrich the US, so it still isn't down the drain: "The decision to provide aid to Ukraine was expected and predictable. This will further enrich the United States and further ruin Ukraine, with more Ukrainians killed due to the fault of the Kyiv regime."
