Inflation is still afflicting American consumers and that means that the elevated interest rates needed to fight it are going to keep afflicting borrowers and taxpayers. The Journal’s Nick Timiraos reports:

Wow this writer is convukuted,

WSJ is bipolar, my Tux was $19, and if a girl had a used prom dress, they would say "oooh".

Mods pull if too controversial.

Can’t read the article but guessing the author never heard of rentals for the guys and the girls can always borrow a dress or get one at Goodwill brand new with the store tags still on. Or this mama purchased clothing a few sizes down the road from thrift stores and garage sales. Then the gowns were donated to the school for whomever needed them.

I bought a tux.

I thought it was a genius move as it will get worn enough times to save on the rentals.

At one point, I even tried to get a job at the local high end restaurant to justify the purchase.

In the end, it was worn 3-4 times and it gave me a valuable lesson.

Decades later, it still hangs in my closet to this day as a reminder of my past foolishness.

Proms are no longer relevant to real life and should be done away with.

Mrs. jimfree and I had the pleasure of entertaining a small HS junior class for their prom equivalent, a soiree. They were dressed very nicely, but not expensively. All drove in groups or were shuttled by parents. They had dinner and other activities before joining us in their cafeteria for dancing.

We had done a school hours dance workshop for them two weeks earlier so they did okay swing dancing with a simple jitterbug step and some elementary maneuvers as well as some other dance forms (I come from a square dance calling background.)

We had a great time and the 30 or so kids seemed to as well.

Most important question; does the tux still fit?
