130 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a gun battle that led to a stray bullet hitting a school bus carrying children on Dr. Roy Baker Street near UF Health Jacksonville in the Hogan’s Creek area on Monday.
Tempers erupted among parents and neighbors and they requested anonymity for fear of becoming a target of gun violence for speaking out.
“A school bus. Those are kids. They shoot at each other. Come on now, that’s frustrating. We got kids. We don’t want our kids to grow up like that. I don’t care what side of town it’s on,” a neighbor said.
JSO said that as the school bus pulled into a nearby apartment complex, two individuals were exchanging gunfire and a bullet hit the front windshield of the bus.

Starting down on Baymeadows and Philips Hwy. you have the Florida Cafe, then you had Bombay Bicycle Club and then the Bar/lounge at the Holiday Inn and further down at Baymeadows and Southside, you had T-Birds, I think that was the name it was a oldies type bar, all those places were usually packed with a younger professional crowd.
Florida Democrats flip the Jacksonville mayor’s office in a major upset
You asked for it, you got it!
“I’d be on the hunt” “What the hell is wrong with these people?”
If you knew the area you’d understand........just another ghettoish area occupied by minorities riddled with drugs and crime......and as usual, they refuse to communicate with authorities.
In the year 2074. Kids these days have it to easy. Back in my day the school bus we took use to go threw a hail of bullets on the way to school.
If we weren’t walking and didn’t get the snot beat out of us for no good reason.
You are correct. Of course, this assumes the mother knows who the father is.
"I can't breathe!"
Yeah some news reader with the brain of a grape won the mayor’s office.
>and sadly Mandarin is in the direct path of the blight.
IMO, they’d have to bull-doze a bunch of houses to put in anything more compact....I don’t see anyone selling out like that around here (yes, there are a few bad spots, but easily avoided...Unlike Mandarin/Southside & ESPECIALLY O.P./Westside)
I live in the Mandarin Area, it’s not the homes getting bulldozed I would be worried about it’s the people living in the homes, throw in the Julington Creek Area and it’s the perfect storm for problems.
In the last year at the corner of Marbon Rd and San Jose Blvd, I’ve seen a woman drop her pants and take a piss in public, a glass crack pipe being passed around, working age adults riding bicycles around at 5am thru neighborhoods looking for targets, etc.
We have husband/wife couple in our neighborhood who both are JSO cops, I asked her about the issue, she said one of the draws to this area for undesirables is the 24-hour emergency medical facility built at I-295 and San Jose, that is where local drug overdoses and other deadbeats get sent to.

Will they declare like Kim fox did that “no charges will be filed” beczuse “it was mutual combat” (the whole I cident was caught on video, showing the murder of one person during a gun fight in the middle of aabusystreet- I beleive that the person who taped the fight was an off duty cop too if I remember right- even Lori Lightfoot was appalled by the decision if you can beleive that!)
The locals know the source. Somehow make the “source” very unwelcome by any means necessary.
I recall a town bully somewhere was gunned down on main street at midday with some 57 potential witnesses. But NOBODY saw a thing. It is still unresolved, and the bully is still dead.
When I lived in Lakeland Florida I knew this cop who periodically got stationed up in that section of town if you know where I mean. He was just disgusted he said anytime they were trying to catch some bad guy the local residents would inform the bad guy they were around. It made him so mad because they wanted less crime but they protected the criminals. He said it was up to him he would just leave them in their own stew
First you have to realize that it isn't guns committing violence, it is people. Then you can begin to find those people and incarcerate them.
Ahh well, therein lies a problem. I was picturing a northern Alberta community.
Good song.
DUUUUUVAL!
Sometimes communities need to look out for themselves.
Not the same kind of neighborhood I can assure you.
Rightly can’t say I’ve been out before 6AM in recent memory to confirm. Even so, there’s ALWAYS @ least one of ‘those houses’ in every ‘hood (had one just 2 doors down; took YEARS for us on that corner to drive ‘em out)
As for the ‘emergency care’, this is FL, those things are springing up E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. No worse than the Baptist S. ER where they’d otherwise go (get sent to)
