An illegal migrant accused of the rape of a child under 16 in Massachusetts was finally arrested by immigration authorities after a local district court ignored a request to detain him.
The Boston ERO (Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations) has often been critical of the state's various liberal municipalities for allowing migrants convicted of repulsive crimes to go free despite their requests to keep them detained amid one of the largest migrant crises in US history.
The unnamed 20-year-old, a Brazilian national, was arrested by Border Patrol on July 28, 2021 after he and his mother entered the US illegally near San Luis, Arizona.
They were ordered to appear before an DOJ immigration judge before being released on recognizance.
Even before his horrific child sex abuse accusation, he'd run into further problems with the law after turning up in Massachusetts. He was arrested in August of 2023 for operating an unlicensed motor vehicle. Those charges were later dismissed.
In December, a warrant was issued for his arrest in the town of Milford over raping a child and enticing a child under the age of 16, according to ERO Boston.
He was eventually found and arrested in Portland, Maine, about 140 miles north on January 10, 2024. In addition to the rape charge, he was charged with being a fugitive from justice.
The man, who has not been named by immigration officials, was taken to the Milford District Court on January 18, where he was arraigned on the charges and had bail set at just $5,000, though he would be required to wear a GPS monitor.
ERO Boston requested that he remain in jail but the court ignored it and released the accused child rapist after he paid bail.

Same here. While there, I'd been in court and watched illegal aliens have cases dismissed and defendants released by judges, simply to keep them from being deported.
I'm much happier in TN. My blood has gone from boiling to a low simmer. Much better for my heart.

“Courts” don’t ignore requests, judges do.
This judge needs to be held accountable.
