Sorry for another post but I'm praying that Tehran has made its point and that is it for now.
They have bombarded Israel but have failed to really hurt or harm them.
The BBC even show bars are open in Jerusalem.
Do not be alarmed. Do not panic on here.
I'm hoping that this does not escalate despite the unprecedented nature of the attack.
How do Freepers see this playing out?
Iran has received valuable information regarding the utility of this attack method. They will train their sights on defeating the countermeasures. This attack will not go unpunished.
Right. If the USSR could implode, so can the mullahs.
It was meek but they did do something, yes.
I hope cooler heads now prevail
I didn’t think of it that way. Interesting.
Even the mullahs knew this “Pickett’s charge” type attack initiated with full notification would fail. Not only did it not harm Israel but the mullahs have shown their own people just how impotent they really are. The Iranian generals are still dead. Israel still holds Iran accountable for the October 7 attack and atrocities and is by no means done with Iran.
*The Saudis were pretty radical on 9/11. Now they’re just chill.
The same thing may happen to Iran eventually.*
They’ve been at war with us since ‘79. Give Israel Carte Blanche.
*I hope cooler heads now prevail*
I hope they don’t.
I think Israel is going to continue rooting out Hamas.
It is interesting that it is a Saturday with markets closed.
Their reaction would be very useful here in trying to figure if this was a beginning of worse or not.
BTC is down 5%, it was down near 10% earlier. I’m not sure if it is an useful barometer in this spot or not.
Futures re-open tomorrow night-it’s going to be interesting.
I suspect a moderate sell off in equities and bonds and oil to be modestly higher.
The point is Israel’s, and the point is to drag the US actively into the conflict, IMO.
If I’m wrong, Israel will de-escalate rather than raise the bar.
Yes they did it when all the markets are shut another interesting point.
There might even be backchannels to stress not escalating this
I see it as an off-ramp for Tehran.
They managed to do something but it was hardly devastating
Enjoy your Sunday...
Yeah I am wondering if the drones even carried warheads. That is a long way to fly with a payload. You fly a drone that costs a few thousand dollars out to be shot down by a million dollar missile.
This is called a “managed de-escalation”.
Do you know what if any backchannels exist?
This is why I hope the kinetic force is focused on the Mullahs.
One thing for sure is that the Iranians are free rolling in a lot of folks minds.
Regardless of what has happened or what will happen-
they’ll blame us and Israel.
Iran started it, they’ve been escalating with the Houthis and Hezbollah and yet employing pretzel logic and mental gymnastics folks conclude us and Israel have desired wider conflict all along. Meanwhile if Israel attacked Teheran on day 2 they could’ve had escalation immediately. If we wanted escalation, the day that they started firing on our ships offered plenty of reason to escalate.
Who needs backchannels, these guys all have each other’s phone numbers. Iranian soil was attacked, they are not only entitled(under the “rules based international order”) but obligated to retaliate. They offered up a sturm und drang and managed to lightly damage an airbase, just like Trump did to the one in Syria with a telegraphed attack. Face saved.
Israel has a list of Iranian high value targets. They took out a few of them to precipitate this response from Iran. The Israelis will just eliminate a couple more of those HVTs, as if to brush off a bothersome insect from their clothes.
Iran will get the message and instead use the UN to condemn Israel.
PS it is an interesting question as to whether it was a purposeful downplayed attack to save face or was it a real shot and they are outmatched?
I’ll go with somewhere in between the two points.
I think the Saturday feature was purposeful to avoid market mayhem.
You have a nice Sunday too. As I posted before, I really appreciate your posts and the articles that you bring to the site. Keep up the good work.
I guess if the Japanese only hit 1 ship at Pearl Harbor we would have said, whew that was close, have a nice trip home.
Three things need to be done:
Kill the leaders of Iran
stop their nuke program
Clean out the vipers next in Rafah.
