Is the will of the people of the state of Arizona as recently currently expressed the same as the will of the people of the territory of Arizona expressed in 1864?
It seems that the answer is no, and yet, the will of the people of the territory if Arizona in 1864 was just declared by the Arizona judiciary to be the current law of the state of Arizona.
It seems as if justice requires the Arizona legislature to act now to remove this abruptly-imposed disjunction.
Interesting thoughts about this. Thank you.
I watched conservatives refuse to compromise on “gay rights” issues by meeting needs.
I saw no reason why any two adults, gay or straight, could not form a legal compact with legal rights to take care of each other - two widows for instance who are trusted friends. It would have given both rights that were not a marriage, but dealt with many similar issues as they tried to care for each other. It would have been short of marriage, but would have met needs and taken away the argument of gays...
But when this wasn’t pursued, we ended with full legal gay marriage.
Same thing shaping up on abortion.
Precisely.
It’s how the law is handled by those currently living.
We the People can do what they desire to do but...you must start somewhere WITHOUT outside interference.
That was never true.
They let you think that "Reversing Roe v. Wade" = "Banning abortions", and I blame them for lying to you.
Abortion procedures have ALWAYS been subject to State legislation, just as they are now. The hole in the Constitution has been repaired.
The same people are yelling at God, “How can you sacrifice your only begotten son, don’t you value life!”
I hope Dobbs reduces the fetal body count while permitting Republicans to win elections. I’m not confident that will happen. We’ll see.
The only excuse out there.. Men don’t have a clue about abortion.. What goes on.. And that’s no excuse.. Maybe 2 daughters, a wife, daughters in law... Have gotten to him for the bites.. Women who want abortion option are some of the most selfish people.. It’s worth a car..and I don’t know how a human can kill their own.. They’d save a puppy tho.
>>” ....the Arizona Supreme Court apparently held that an 1864 statute supersedes a 2022 statute on the same matter.”
It appears that way. I’m not sure what legal justification they made for doing so. I’m not a lawyer, but at least on its face it seems to be a very poor legal decision, likely motivated by politics.
Trump needs to stay out of it.
In all forms.
The only abortion I support is the life of the mother.
Good point.
Trump’s notion of what’s ideal punishes the not-yet-born for the sins/crimes of others.
Ideally, they should be left alone and given the same chance at life as those others had.
NFN, but Trump appears to be parroting Sean Hannity’s deviant position. Hannity self-declares as Catholic but is no oracle or prophet and should not be relief upon when it comes to this issue.
*Trump needs to stay out of it.*
I agree!!
Thx for responding. 👍
Correct. Charles Stanley I believe had a good discussion on Apostacy yesterday.
We are now officially witnessing exactly that. Bodes not well for America.
This Guy doesn’t agree.
The hearts and minds of the people are not engaged or positively inspired by elites forcibly snapping the law back 170 years.
It seems wrong and brutal and should be rectified immediately.
*Trump needs to stay out of it.*
Trump can’t stay out of it, when the media and everyone out to get him, keep asking him about his stance on it.
Trump was just asked several times about it, while doing an election integrity press conference...
And he went back to it’s a state’s issue, he notes the Supreme Court decision on roe v wade gave the issue back to the state, and some states are going to be more strict than others.
And he spoke on arizona going back to a 1864 law, and that it’ll be worked out by the state.
Do you think the goal of the Arizona Supreme Court was or is to trigger a ballot initiative that will mostly motivate Trump-haters to come out and vote?
I get what you’re saying, Cletus and if PRESIDENT Trump decided to weigh in on this I’d be more inclined to agree with you. But that’s not what we’re seeing. We’re seeing CANDIDATE Trump fighting like hell to win an election and trying to prevent AZ from making a decision that could end up being very costly in that pursuit.
