CLEVELAND — Women’s college basketball continues to grab the nation’s attention at an unprecedented rate, and the metrics prove it.
The Final Four game between Iowa and Connecticut on Friday was the most-watched basketball game ever aired on ESPN; an average of 14.2 million viewers tuned in, and the broadcast peaked at 17 million viewers.
Iowa defeated U-Conn., 71-69, to advance to its second consecutive national championship game with star guard Caitlin Clark leading the way.
The previous record for an ESPN basketball broadcast was 13.51 million viewers for Game 7 of the 2018 NBA Eastern Conference finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.

ESPN doesn’t broadcast Men’s college basketball tournament games only regular season games. So I suppose this may be accurate.

if nwba or nbwa whatever have teams full of clark, i’d watch...
“Magic” with his cross dressing son and his belt of scratches for all the women he seduced. Wilt Chambwelain must have been his mentor.

“ This ought drive black racists like Jemele Hill crazy.”
I have not watched any of the games but I see the posts on X. The amount of racism directed at this Clark girl is eye opening. Equally, the charges of racism directed at people who were critical of the Reece girl from LSU were shocking too.
We’ve gotten to the point in this country where white people can’t be mildly critical of a a black person, even one as arrogant and unlikable as Reece is. And blacks can get on social media and hurl all kinds of racist hate at white people.
I saw today that J Hill is posting videos of fouls (or what she says are fouls) that should have been called against Clark but weren’t. This young Clark girl has triggered a bunch of black racists, no doubt.
LeBron James is very upset over the offensive foul called on Edwards with 3.9 seconds to go for a moving screen. It was a good call. I suppose James is upset that a Black player was called for fouling a White player. Messed up the whole DEI thing.
The ratings will go down after Caitlin Clark graduates.
Imagine the outcry if a White swimmer said they didn’t think a black boy could swim.
Will be interesting if she helps ratings.
It was a great game. Great passing, great moves/drives to the basket, and I love watching them fire 3-point bombs. Those girls can play.
Brainless is the king of flops. He wouldn’t know a legit foul if it hit him.
We watched it! (And I RARELY watch basketball…men’s, women’s, college, or pros.)
Caveat: I live in Indiana now, and it’s very much a college basketball state. After 10 years here, I’m trying to fit in with the natives, at least until football season, and then I don’t care what they think of me.
It’s the only basketball game I’ve watched all year
Since I refuse to give The Compost clicks, and you already have I though you might share. 🙂👍
Clark scored 21 points to go along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Iowa will face No. 1 overall seed South Carolina for the title Sunday (3 p.m. ET, ABC). The Gamecocks (37-0) beat NC State 78-59 in Friday's first semifinal.
Go Iowa.

If it were the first play of the game, the refs would have called it a moving screen and everyone would have said, “good call.”
My guess is that she's going to get more endorsement opportunities going forward than he is.
