Prior to Monday night's game between Iowa and LSU, there were plenty of people who already respected Caitlin Clark's game.
Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce, however, needed to see Clark dismantle LSU's star-studded to truly admire her skillset and talent.
Unfortunately, Pierce's commentary about Clark on FS1's "Undisputed" wasn't well articulated.
"We saw a white girl in Iowa do it to a bunch of Black girls," Pierce said. "That gained my respect. That gained my respect. She didn't beat other white girls from Colorado or wherever. She did it to LSU, who we thought were some dogs. She put them on her knee and spanked them. I didn't expect that."
Countless fans bashed Pierce for his analysis, especially since Clark has been dominating her opponents all season long.
"That's literally been the whole season," one fan wrote.
Another fan said, "FS1 the only place left giving this dude air time and even that is surprising to me."
Clark is averaging 32.0 points, 9.0 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Hawkeyes.
Iowa will face UConn this Friday in the Final Four. There'll be plenty of eyes on this matchup.
No other black gave her props. Paul Pearce is a class act.
Wow. What happened? A white girl spanked a bunch of black girls on their knees or something like that?
I don’t think that’s true. Angel Reese did. And isn’t Hailey Van Lith the second best player on LSU, and she is white?
Caitlin Clark is a scoring machine.
UCONN BABY!!!
What was that, a music award act?
I see no problem. the w’s are in lower case and the B’s are upper case. It meets DEI standards.
EC
I don’t read articles in which black is uppercased and White lowercased.
Also, Trae Young, LeBron James, and Steph Curry.
I try to remember to capitalize both; but it’s true that ‘white’ people don’t exactly identify themselves with their skin color in the same way that ‘black’ people do. In conversation, White people would tend to say that we’re ‘Irish American’, ‘German American’ or some other descent, than to say we’re just ‘white’. So, the capitalized ‘Black’ has a somewhat different meaning within our culture now.
Anyhow, it’s way down on the list of things that bother me one way or another...
Black in caps? Racists.
Last game she seemed to like moving to her left before shooting.....just an observation. So defensibly overplay her left and force her right....but it probably doesn’t matter when your draining 40 footers....lol
I was an English major. Neither should be capitalized.
Some Africans and Caribbeans don’t like being identified with U.S. back people.
I don’t know if he’s a class act or not, but I do agree for any black person giving a white person any kind of praise is noteworthy.
The fact that Caitlin presents herself as a competent athlete beating people who fashion themselves as “Bratz” dolls is not lost on me as well.
anybody but...
