Trump wants to give Ukraine a 'loan' — but some of his GOP allies on Capitol Hill worry it would never be paid back

Trump raised the idea of providing US aid to Ukraine via loan so that it might get paid back. But Republicans on Capitol Hill are skeptical that will happen. "I just think a loan ends up being a grant," said one House Republican. There's a relatively new idea floating around the political world, and it's being pushed by former President Donald Trump: What if Ukraine aid came in the form of a loan?

It’s actually a good idea. If they are using the aid for bribes to American politicians, they will not want to be on the hook for paying it back and they might say something about it.

I would give them a loan at a 95% interest rate.

Why does Trump want to help the Ukrainian regime?

Looks like US foreign policy will be to be the globalist sugar daddy, no matter who gets in.

They have already defaulted on numerous loans since they became a nation in 1991. Now that their country’s infrastructure, economy, loss of industry, and billions in wasted welfare, what kind of an idiot would think they can pay any thing back?

“””””The only country to ever pay us back for WWII is England””””

I looked that up when someone posted that a few months ago and it isn’t accurate.

I couldn’t find the list today but the state Department says this “The case of debts arising from World War II is somewhat less complicated. At this time only four countries, discussed below, owe the U.S. government debts of any size arising from World War II programs to aid our allies. Other countries have paid their debts in full.”

We are now in the end game of the Ukraine conflict.

It is now 100% certain that Ukraine will lose the war absent direct and massive NATO intervention in the very near term.

Now it's all about what comes afterwards.

To prevent a total economic collapse and Russian takeover, there must be some form of support for Ukraine.

We have currently have four options

One - Stop throwing good money after bad and watch the inevitable military and economic collapse of Ukraine, which will be a total disaster.

Two - Keep funding the Ukraine is the same wasteful and counter productive fashion and delay the he inevitable military and economic collapse of Ukraine, possible til after the 2024 elections to allow our political leaders to avoid paying an even worse political price for their malfeasance. This will be an even worse disaster than than the first option because we have another year of death, destruction and squandered assets to deal with.

Three - Retool our funding and our military and political postures in Ukraine to give Ukraine the necessary leverage and breathing space to execute the best possible negotiated settlement they can get to avoid a total loss. Funding should be contingent upon Immediate entry in to fast track negotiations to end the conflict. We should use the threat of of the defensive military measures we will deploy rather than their actual deployment as the negotiating leverage to arrive at a cease fire as quickly as possible to preserve as many assets as possible

Four - Direct NATO and US intervention ie WWIII. Both NATO and the US are in a very poor position to mobilize for such a conflict at this time.

Obviously, the GOP doesn’t even want to try ‘loan versus grant’. They are either too weak or too corrupt to have the Taxpayers’ best interests at heart...probably both.

Disgusting.
