Why our institutions keep going woke and going broke
New York Post ^ | 25 Mar, 2024 | Glenn H. Reynolds

“Can’t anybody here play this game?”

Those were the words manager Casey Stengel addressed to the bumbling 1962 New York Mets.

But nowadays, it might just as reasonably be addressed to the people who run our biggest and most important institutions.

“Get woke, go broke” has been a catchphrase for several years.

Yet the people at the top of major corporations and government agencies keep, well, getting woke and going broke.

Which makes me wonder why.

Harvard, roiled by antisemitism scandals in which woke politics kept administrators from protecting Jewish students, has lost enough in donations that it’s shutting down a library and looking to borrow money to meet expenses.

(It won’t actually go broke with its gigantic endowment, but most of that money is tied up, and it relies on donors to cover year-to-year costs.)

Early-admissions applications took a hit after the fall’s scandals.

Disney, marked by subsidiary Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy’s “Put a chick in it, and make her gay” — as “South Park” famously formulated — is losing money hand over fist, as one beloved franchise after another is turned into politicized dreck that alienates fans.

How donors small and large can shake up woke higher education Sports Illustrated, which had a surefire moneymaker in its venerable swimsuit issue, went out of its way to alienate its once-loyal audience by featuring trans, obese and old models on the cover and is laying off its entire staff.

Planet Fitness has decided to embrace men who identify as women shaving in the women’s locker room, and its stock is plummeting. (It’s even terminated the memberships of women who complained.)

The long march through the institutions is pretty far along.

Anarcho-tyranny, lawfare, and Balkanization.

Make all white majority countries into Brazils, and internal strife overloads the peasants from revolution against globalists.

Yes it is.

These decisions are made by people in positions that are operating way past their competency level, and have been for some time. All the liberal cronies that got the high paying job after a good year of PAC work in DC. Or a quid pro quo of some type that placed a man like Biden at the top. One stupid decision by him and we are all living a nuclear winter. He greased every palm to get there and has nothing left because he is supposed to have an honest job now but doesnt know how to do that. So, there you have it.

Speaking of colleges, tax the endowments!

Thus, policies that get leaders plaudits for DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion), “climate awareness” or “antiracism” score them social points that improve their position, even as they damage the institutions they’re responsible for.

So...keep the heat on and tighten the screws until they get past the crazy or their businesses turn to dust.

I hate to break it to Deep State’s higher ed diploma mills, but totalling almost a trillion in endowments nationwide, Deep State will come for them sooner or later.

It will be too much for Deep State to resist.

IMHO we're looking at a spiritual war. The political left operates more like a cult than a political party. Us patriotic Americans have to do more than just win elections and lobby. We should spend at least as much time trying to user in the next great spiritual awakening.

They institutions and corporations are playing chicken, thinking they can impose their agenda before they go out of business.

Very true. But until recently, the march was being accomplished quietly. Harvard's antiSemitism and high visibility products like Bud Lite shoved this stuff out into the public square.

Public awareness of the Marxist agenda is a sea change for their long march forward.

It's one thing to be a closeted Marxist revolutionary...but when everyone knows it there's trouble ahead.

If you sell short on a stock, and the price plunges, you stand to make millions.

It’s practically a sure thing these days, get woke, go broke.

Do you think anyone would purposely sabotage a company so they could bet on a sure thing?

Nah....

Stengel also once said that he goes to his friends’ funerals because he wants them to come to his.

Very true. The democrat party stopped being a political party when it turned into the woke fringe pervs it is today. It morphed into a cult with a loyal deeply disturbed base. It embraces criminal methods, lawfare, lying, cheating, stealing, and every other underhanded action possible. Naturally all the demented pedo’s, trans, and any number of weird fetish-minded people fit right in with this cult.

They are dangerous and I suspect one day a civil war will erupt between this dangerous cult (and their woke supporters) and the rest of humanity.

People hired based on Kolor, Kink and Kin (democrats and their weird attachment too KKK) moved into top slots decades ago. Incompetent people have a lot to fight for because once companies start hiring based on merit, who's going to pay $300,000 a year to someone to run a university who's barely qualified to manage a McDonalds?

From your linked (Roman history) article …

Absolute imperial power replaced the complex check-and-balance system of the republic. The famous Senate declined from a vigorous state council, filled with civilian and military executives, into an ornamental rich men’s club. The Roman populace was no longer in a mood to fight for its constitutional liberties; it was lulled to sleep by the time-honored method: Panem et circenses. So long as it received free food at public expense, and elaborate games and spectacles, it ceased to concern itself with public affairs.

Private initiative disappeared; more and more the all-powerful imperial government was expected to look after everyone and attend to everything.

One reason why Disney is losing money hand over fist. Disney’s Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy’s moronic remark-——“Put a chick in South Park, and make her gay”.....

One beloved Walt Disney legacy after another is turned into politicized DEI dreck that has fans hysterically laughing and witholding their money at the same time.

LAUGH BREAK Disney’s “long-awaited” live-action revamp of Walt Disney’s beloved tale of “Snow White” has been delayed til 2025.

According to The Hollywood Reporter last October, Disney has decided to push back the release date for its redo of the Walt Disney classic.....now known as “Snow Woke.”

The delay is no doubt in response to the drubbing Disney got when they released images of Snow White alongside her dwarf pals (below).

While the lead actor looked more or less as expected, her seven companions all appeared to be portraying the DEI’ed seven dwarfs as a racially and physically diverse group of people, as opposed to a septet of people with dwarfism.

At the time, Disney scurried to emphasize to Vanity Fair that while those early photos were from Snow White’s set, they were not “official,” and depicted “stand-ins” for some cast members.

Obviously, set photos aren’t always indicative of how a movie turns out, but does seem to indicate that the new live-action Snow White is not going to take notes from the beloved 1937 Walt Disney film.

But given the approach Disney’s taken to updating its other remakes, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see the new Snow Woke’s dwarfs looking like tricky woke cuties...... not like the story that made them famous.

It also did not help when Snow White star, Rachel Ziegler (Rachel who?), made some deplorable feminist-laden woke statements about her movie character.

Disney stupidly traded dwarfism for diversity.

Funtime...which of the new Disney dwarfs do you despise the most?
